TL;DR: In this paper, the synthesis of complexes of the general formula Cl2Ru(SIMes)(L)(3-phenylinden-1-ylidene) (5, L = PCy3; 6, L= py; and 7, PPh3) from Cl 2Ru(PR3)2(3-PN-1ylidenes) (2a, R = Ph; 2b, R= Cy) is reported.
Abstract: The synthesis of complexes of the general formula Cl2Ru(SIMes)(L)(3-phenylinden-1-ylidene) (5, L = PCy3; 6, L = py; and 7, L = PPh3) from Cl2Ru(PR3)2(3-phenylinden-1-ylidene) (2a, R = Ph; 2b, R = Cy) is reported. This family of olefin metathesis catalysts was fully characterized (1H, 13C and 31P NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis) and provided excellent activity in the ring-opening metathesis polymerization of 1,5-cyclooctadiene and the ring-closing metathesis of diethyl diallylmalonate. Comparison with the corresponding benzylidene-containing catalysts, 1a,c and 8b, established the decisive role of the carbene ligand on the procedure of the reaction and led to the observation of an unusual catalytic phenomenon, here called “self-inhibition”.(© Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show equipment developed in different research centers and universities to analyze thermophysical properties, such as specific heat, latent heat and melting temperature, and thermal conductivity and diffusivity of PCM and hybrid PCM materials.
Abstract: The use of thermal energy storage by phase change materials (PCM) is increasing in interest for building applications. For the deployment of the technology, appropriate characterization of PCM and hybrid PCM is essential, but it is not always possible to carry it out with conventional equipment, mainly due to the sample size. This paper shows equipment developed in different research centers and universities to analyze thermophysical properties, such as specific heat, latent heat and melting temperature, and thermal conductivity and diffusivity of PCM and hybrid PCM materials.

TL;DR: A new approach combining the features of the homotopy concept with an efficient computational algorithm which provides a simple and rigorous procedure to control the convergence of the solution is proposed to find accurate analytical explicit solutions for some oscillators with discontinuities and a fractional power restoring force.
Abstract: In this paper a new approach combining the features of the homotopy concept with an efficient computational algorithm which provides a simple and rigorous procedure to control the convergence of the solution is proposed to find accurate analytical explicit solutions for some oscillators with discontinuities and a fractional power restoring force which is proportional to sign(x). A very fast convergence to the exact solution was proved, since the second-order approximation lead to very accurate results. Comparisons with numerical results are presented to show the effectiveness of this method. Four numerical applications prove the accuracy of the method, which works very well for the whole range of initial amplitudes. The obtained results prove the validity and efficiency of the method, which can be easily extended to other strongly nonlinear problems.
