TL;DR: In this paper, the viscosities of three benzoic acid derivatives (p-n-heptyloxy, p-ndecyloxy-, and pn-dodecyloxy) were measured on a unique viscometer of the class of CS-rheometer-viscometers with controlled shear stress over the whole temperature range of the liquid crystalline state.
Abstract: The viscosities of three benzoic acid derivatives (p-n-heptyloxy-, p-n-decyloxy-, and p-n-dodecyloxy-) were measured on a unique viscometer of the class of CS-rheometer-viscometers with controlled shear stress over the whole temperature range of the liquid crystalline state. Shear rates were calculated and flow and viscosity curves constructed from the experimental shear stress values taking into account the Rabinovich-Moony correction. The smectic and nematic phases were characterized by non-Newton and Newton viscosities, respectively, in all the samples studied. The activation parameters of viscous flow were calculated for Newton viscosity. The results are discussed in terms of intermolecular interactions and structural peculiarities of liquid crystalline phases.

TL;DR: In this paper, the operational principles of an optical sensor of an external electromagnetic field based on ring micro-resonators are considered and the influence of the width and position of the slots in the waveguides and the radius of the micro-reonators on the sensitivity of the sensor is analyzed.
Abstract: The operational principles of an optical sensor of an external electromagnetic field based on ring microresonators are considered. The microresonators are based on stripline waveguides with vertical and horizontal slots filled with a liquid-crystal material. The mode field propagation and dispersion constants of the waveguides are calculated by the method of lines. The influence of the width and position of the slots in the waveguides and the radius of the microresonators on the sensitivity of the sensor are analyzed.

TL;DR: A reduction in oxygen content in the gas phase to a level of 3 vol.% or less makes it possible to avoid pyrophoric iron sulfide formation as discussed by the authors, which is a reduction in steel corrosion rate.
Abstract: Creation of a nitrogen atmosphere within a tank gas space with sulfurous oil leads to a reduction in steel corrosion rate and pyrophoric deposit formation rate. A reduction in oxygen content in the gas phase to a level of 3 vol.% or less makes it possible to avoid pyrophoric iron sulfide formation.

TL;DR: Evidence of vegetative disbalance in the patients presenting with ronchopathy makes it necessary to design and develop new methods producing the vegetostabilizing effect for the treatment of snoring during sleep to be used together with other conservative and surgical methods.
Abstract: The objective of the present work was the clinical and instrumental study of the vegetative nervous system in 25 patients of different age presenting with ronchopathy. The results of the study indicate the prevalence of the vagotonic type of primary vegetative tone and the specific features of vegetative reactivity differing from those in the control subjects (n=12). Moreover, all the patients were shown to have concomitant diseases of the upper respiratory tract. The data obtained give evidence of vegetative disbalance in the patientspresenting with ronchopathy which makes it necessary to design and develop new methods producing the vegetostabilizing effect for the treatment of snoring during sleep to be used together with other conservative and surgical methods.
