TL;DR: A method for studying the divergence of multiple closely related populations is described and assessed and analysis of simulated data sets reveals the kinds of history that are accessible with a multipopulation analysis.
Abstract: A method for studying the divergence of multiple closely related populations is described and assessed. The approach of Hey and Nielsen (2007, Integration within the Felsenstein equation for improved Markov chain Monte Carlo methods in population genetics. Proc Natl Acad Sci USA. 104:2785-2790) for fitting an isolation-with-migration model was extended to the case of multiple populations with a known phylogeny. Analysis of simulated data sets reveals the kinds of history that are accessible with a multipopulation analysis. Necessarily, processes associated with older time periods in a phylogeny are more difficult to estimate; and histories with high levels of gene flow are particularly difficult with more than two populations. However, for histories with modest levels of gene flow, or for very large data sets, it is possible to study large complex divergence problems that involve multiple closely related populations or species.

TL;DR: In recent years, remarkable advances have been made in the understanding of the visual, motoric, and affective influences on perception of human action, as well as in the elucidation of the neural concomitants of perception ofhuman action.
Abstract: Humans, being highly social creatures, rely heavily on the ability to perceive what others are doing and to infer from gestures and expressions what others may be intending to do. These perceptual skills are easily mastered by most, but not all, people, in large part because human action readily communicates intentions and feelings. In recent years, remarkable advances have been made in our understanding of the visual, motoric, and affective influences on perception of human action, as well as in the elucidation of the neural concomitants of perception of human action. This article reviews those advances and, where possible, draws links among those findings.

TL;DR: The ability to tune the chemistry by choosing a unique combination of transition metals and chalcogen atoms along with controlling their properties by phase engineering allows new functionalities to be realized with TMDs.
Abstract: Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) represent a family of materials with versatile electronic, optical, and chemical properties. Most TMD bulk crystals are van der Waals solids with strong bonding within the plane but weak interlayer bonding. The individual layers can be readily isolated. Single layer TMDs possess intriguing properties that are ideal for both fundamental and technologically relevant research studies. We review the structure and phases of single and few layered TMDs. We also describe recent progress in phase engineering in TMDs. The ability to tune the chemistry by choosing a unique combination of transition metals and chalcogen atoms along with controlling their properties by phase engineering allows new functionalities to be realized with TMDs.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that the mantle was warming in deep Archean-Hadean time because internal heating exceeded surface heat loss, and it has been cooling from 2.5 to 3.0 Ga to the present.
