TL;DR: A rule based situation assessment system that utilizes both COTS and in-house software and is built upon an agent framework that speeds up development times, since it takes care of many of the infrastructural issues of such a communication intense application as this is.
Abstract: In order to achieve greater situation awareness it is necessary to identify relations between individual entities and their immediate surroundings, neighboring entities and important landmarks. The idea is that long-term intentions and situations can be identified by patterns of more rudimentary behavior, in essence situations formed by combinations of different basic relationships. In this paper we present a rule based situation assessment system that utilizes both COTS and in-house software. It is built upon an agent framework that speeds up development times, since it takes care of many of the infrastructural issues of such a communication intense application as this is, and a rule based reasoner that can reason about situations that develop over time. The situation assessment system is developed to be simple, but structurally close to an operational system, with connections to outside data sources and graphical editors and data displays. It is developed with a specific simple Sea-surveillance scenario in mind, which we also present, but the ideas behind the system are general and are valid for other areas as well.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present procedures for track initiation during multiple target tracking by means of measurements from passive sensors and define a quality measure for each tentative new target, by which the tentative targets are sorted and selected.
Abstract: The present invention is in general related to tracking of multiple targets by means of measurements by various sensors. In particular the invention provides procedures for track initiation during multiple target tracking by means of measurements from passive sensors. The invention defines a quality measure for each tentative new target, by which the tentative targets are sorted and selected. The calculation of the parameters of possible targets and their covariance are preferably performed in a recursive manner. The track initiation comprises the steps of creating strobe tracks, calculating strobe track crosses, selecting a strobe track cross as a probable target and creating a target track.

TL;DR: In this article, a system and a method for avoidance of collision between vehicles, wherein a possible avoidance manoeuvre trajectory (Tr1, Tr2) for the respective vehicle is calculated and compared with the avoidance maneuver trajectories calculated for the other vehicles for controlling whether the vehicle in every moment during its calculated lapse is located at a stipulated minimum distance (d) from the avoidance maneuvers of any other vehicles that is smaller than a specified minimum distance.
Abstract: A system and a method for avoidance of collision between vehicles, wherein a possible avoidance manoeuvre trajectory (Tr1, Tr2) for the respective vehicle is calculated and compared with the avoidance manoeuvre trajectories calculated for the other vehicles for controlling whether the avoidance manoeuvre trajectory of the vehicle in every moment during its calculated lapse is located at a stipulated minimum distance (d) from the avoidance manoeuvre trajectories of the other vehicles. A warning is presented to a person manoeuvring the vehicle and/or the vehicle is made to follow an avoidance manoeuvre trajectory previously calculated and stored for the vehicle if the comparison shows that the avoidance manoeuvre trajectory (Tr1, Tr2) of a vehicle in any moment during its calculated lapse is located at a distance from the avoidance manoeuvre trajectories of any of the other vehicles that is smaller than the stipulated minimum distance (d).
