TL;DR: In this paper, the influence from moisture on shape distortion of curved thermoset composite laminates is investigated experimentally by means of angle measurements vs. accelerated moisture uptake using a climate chamber at 90°C and 95% relative humidity.
Abstract: The influence from moisture on shape distortion of curved thermoset composite laminates is investigated experimentally. The objects of study are L-shaped carbon/epoxy specimens with a quasi-isotropic layup and a thickness varying between 1 and 12 mm. The effect on the shape distortion is quantified by means of angle measurements vs. accelerated moisture uptake utilising a climate chamber at 90 °C and 95% relative humidity. The results show a strong dependence from laminate moisture content – the effect is in fact in the same order of magnitude as the spring-in from thermal and chemical shrinkage during curing. Moisture does thus not only affect the spring-in angle but also has to be taken into consideration, and be carefully controlled, when assessing shape distortions due to other parameters. Finally, a closed form expression based on the experimental results is presented, predicting how the bracket angle varies with the specimen thickness and moisture content.

29 Aug 2005TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a system and a method for assisting in planning how to carry out a mission on a plurality of targets by means of resources of different types, including information about the mission, the targets and the resources.
Abstract: A system and a method for assisting in planning how to carry out a mission on a plurality of targets by means of a plurality of resources of different types. Information about the mission, the targets and the resources are received. The system comprises a plurality of computing modules arranged in a hierarchical structure comprising at least two levels (1 , 2, 3). The first level (1) includes a plurality of computing modules (24, 26, 28, 30), each corresponding to one or more resources of a specific type and arranged for producing a cost estimate for performing the mission by means of its corresponding resources based on a mathematical model of the resource and said information about the mission, the targets, and the resources. The second level (2) includes computing modules (32, 34) adapted for receiving the cost estimates from the first level computing modules, and on basis thereof selecting which of the recourses to be used for performing the mission by means of a mathematical optimization method.

02 Oct 2004TL;DR: In this article, a simulation system comprising at least one virtual projectile/missile firing device having movable directing means to direct a virtual projectile towards a target and determine the position of said virtual projectile and the target is presented.
Abstract: Simulation system comprising at least one virtual projectile/missile firing device ( 1 ) having movable directing means ( 3 ) to direct a virtual projectile/missile towards a target ( 2 ) and means to determine the position of said at least one virtual projectile/missile firing device and the target whereby the simulation system comprises means ( 4 ) to capture at least one image of the target scene in front of the directing means ( 3 ) and means to process the, or each, image so as to determine the orientation of the directing means ( 3 ).

21 Jun 2012TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a system, a method and a computer program for managing memory access of an avionics control system having at least one control computer (S1-S4) having at most one memory control device (15).
Abstract: The invention pertains to a system, a method and a computer program for managing memory access of an avionics control system having at least one control computer (S1-S4) having at least one memory control device (15).The method comprising assigning a memory access of at least one unique memory region (APPM) of at least one memory unit (4) to each of at least one application task or task set (P1, P2). A further step comprises assigning a memory access of at least one application data update task to at least one subregion of one or more of the at least one unique memory region. Further steps consists of writing at least one data parameter to the at least one subregion and de-activating the assigned memory access of said at least one application data update task.
