TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the criteria that characterize desirable mobility properties for the movement of UAVs in a reconnaissance scenario, and provide two mobility models for the scenario, i.e., the random model and the pheromone model.
Abstract: In MANET research the mobility of the nodes is often described using standard synthetic models. Given a particular application, e.g. networks of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) performing a cooperative task, the use of a standard synthetic mobility model can result in incorrect conclusions, as the movement pattern can impact the networking performance of the system. In this paper we present the criteria that characterize desirable mobility properties for the movement of UAVs in a reconnaissance scenario, and provide two mobility models for the scenario. In the first mobility model the UAVs move independently and randomly, and in the second model pheromones guide their movement. The random model is very simple but it achieves mediocre results. The pheromone model has very good scanning properties, but it has problems with respect to network connectivity. The study shows that there in an inherent conflict between the two goals of maximum coverage by frequent rescanning and adequate communication connectivity.

TL;DR: A rational Krylov algorithm for eigenvalue computation and model order reduction is described and how to implement it as a modified shift-and-invert spectral transformation Arnoldi decomposition is shown.
Abstract: A rational Krylov algorithm for eigenvalue computation and model order reduction is described. It is shown how to implement it as a modified shift-and-invert spectral transformation Arnoldi decomposition. It is shown how to do deflation, locking converged eigenvalues and purging irrelevant approximations. Computing reduced order models of linear dynamical systems by moment matching of the transfer function is considered. Results are reported from one illustrative toy example and one practical example, a linear descriptor system from a computational fluid dynamics application.

TL;DR: The results show that the proposed new array receive calibration method performs much better than linear interpolation or global (direction independent) calibration regarding direction of arrival estimation using MUSIC for arrays with large position errors.
Abstract: Today most arrays have a very high mechanical and electrical accuracy Our aim is to allow for larger errors (low manufacturing cost), while keeping the calibration grid sparse (low calibration cost) To be able to handle the imperfections causing scan dependent errors (like position errors), we suggest a new array receive calibration method based on local models The results show that our method performs much better than linear interpolation or global (direction independent) calibration regarding direction of arrival estimation using MUSIC for arrays with large position errors In beamforming for eg communication, however, the global calibration performs better (lower side lobes) since it is optimized for the whole calibration region, while the local calibration is optimized for one direction

Abstract: An antenna for a radar-based level gauge useable for determining a filling level of a filling material contained in a container is disclosed. The antenna comprises a reflector, which is symmetric around a symmetry axis; and a feeder for feeding microwave signals to and from the reflector. The feeder is of an elongate, essentially cylindrical shape, with a longitudinal axis of said feeder essentially coinciding with said symmetry axis of the reflector, wherein said feeder comprises a ring-shaped radiation feeding area for transmitting electromagnetic radiation towards the reflector and for receiving reflected electromagnetic radiation. In a preferred embodiment, an abutment ring is arranged around the feeder, wherein at least one of the feeder and the abutment ring are movable in relation to each other in the axial direction of said feeder, whereby simple and effective cleaning of the feeder is rendered possible. A method for cleaning an antenna is also disclosed.

TL;DR: A ready-to-deploy implementation of a mobility framework that supports seamless communication and represents an important enabler for adaptive applications through its simple QoS feedback mechanism is presented.
Abstract: During recent years, it has become evident that mobility functions will have a profound impact on current and future wireless networks. Users expect service connectivity anywhere and anytime without having to think about the underlying communication systems used at that particular moment in time. On this background, this paper presents a ready-to-deploy implementation of a mobility framework that supports seamless communication and represents an important enabler for adaptive applications through its simple QoS feedback mechanism. The framework selects the best available network through a decision algorithm that takes advantage of both experience with different network types for certain types of services and a link performance monitoring concept. The impact of the proposed framework on performance in terms of processing and throughput overhead is also discussed.

Abstract: This paper proposes a composite right/left-handed (CRLH) transmission line structure implemented on microstrip and composed of interdigital capacitors and quasi-exponential inductive stubs (QEIS's). By replacing the more commonly used uniform transmission line stubs with QEIS's; the left-handed (LH) operating frequency band is increased.

TL;DR: This paper describes how the workflows to define pilot warnings, recording needs and fault isolation are integrated in order to reduce development time and reuse data.
Abstract: As the requirements of a modern air vehicle changes during development and use, requirements and design of test and recording functions will always have to be up to date. To achieve control over recording, fault isolation and health management in a tightly integrated avionics system with several configuration variants and frequent updates, powerful tools are needed, especially given demands for cost reduction and the limited staff available. Traditionally development has been divided among several departments, with own processes and tools, leading to redundant work and inconsistency, despite tremendous inspection efforts. This paper describes how the workflows to define pilot warnings, recording needs and fault isolation are integrated in order to reduce development time and reuse data. There are over 500 failure modes and about 100 maintenance fault reports defined for the Gripen Aircraft. The impact of a failure is dependent on equipment configuration and thus the required pilot actions or corrective maintenance actions will differ between the variants. In complex failure situations it is important to find the primary fault and filter faults that can be considered as consequences of the primary fault. Experience has shown that the recommended corrective actions often need to be revised as operational experience is accumulated. As changes in a delivered product are costly, the method of separately loadable databases for flight manuals and fault isolation information will significantly reduce the cost of an update and also enable an incremental development. This paper will also describe how field loadable databases can be used in aircraft and ground support systems.

TL;DR: In this paper, a warhead consisting of a charge unit with an explosive charge, a liner, and an initiator is presented, where a stopper is provided in front of the charge unit to interfere with the liner.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a warhead (2) comprising a charge unit (5) with an explosive charge (7), a liner (8) and an initiator (9), the warhead having a fragmentation capacity. The invention also refers to a projectile or a missile comprising such a warhead (2). According to the invention a stopper (6) is provided in front of the charge unit (5) to interfere with the liner (8) of the charge unit at such a distance from the charge unit (5) that the essential part of the acceleration of the liner (8) under influences from explosive gases of the explosive charge has taken place before reaching the stopper (6). This creates a splinter mode with fragments spread in desired directions of space.
