16 Jun 2014TL;DR: Existing method engineering concept is extended to include time distortion analysis, which allows for analysis of resource use (productivity) in execution of method components and has the potential to act as a tool for improving the execution of systems engineering processes.
Abstract: The “software crisis” is still a prevailing problem to many organizations despite existence of advanced systems engineering methods, techniques for project planning and method engineering; systems engineering project still struggle to deliver on time and budget, and with sufficient quality. Existing research stresses that time leakage has a lever effect on economic outcome, which is not addressed in the abovementioned approaches. As part of an on-going research project we therefore extend existing method engineering concept to include time distortion analysis. This allows for analysis of resource use (productivity) in execution of method components. It has the potential to act as a) a tool for improving the execution of systems engineering processes, or b) criteria for selecting method parts to improve the systems engineering processes.

09 Jun 2007TL;DR: In this article, a worst case scenario that uses dielectric super-layers with neighboring wave-guides closed in matched loads constitutes a worst-case scenario as far as the performance enhancement is concerned and finds applicability in radiometric imaging arrays.
Abstract: The design strategy that uses dielectric super-layers with neighboring wave-guides closed in matched loads constitutes a worst case scenario as far as the performance enhancement is concerned and finds applicability in radiometric imaging arrays. On the other side the design strategy that uses dielectric super-layers with neighboring wave-guides closed in properly tuned reactive loads can be seen as best case scenario representative of a multi beam system for a telecommunication satellite with independent channels.

TL;DR: In this paper, a much more rapid method of raw data generation is applied, starting by simulating the SAR image itself, showing the phase error effect on the SAR-image of an urban scene, the use of autofocusing to restore the image resolution, and the degradation due to additive noise on the collected SAR raw data.
Abstract: In this paper, a much more rapid method of raw data generation is applied, starting by simulating the SAR image itself. Conventional methods of translating a thermal IR- or photographic image into a SAR image are first briefly reviewed. The complex numbers representing the SAR image are then converted to radar raw data using the SAR-processing algorithms backwards. The key transform is the scene center focusing, which ties together SAR data and sensor geometry. This method of generating raw data is shown to be several orders of magnitude faster than the direct method described above, and raw data from the I- and Q-channels can readily be simulated even on a PC. The effects of internal noise and phase errors, due to imperfect motion compensation, can also be included and simulated in detail. The method is exemplified, showing the phase error effect on the SAR-image of an urban scene, the use of autofocusing to restore the image resolution, and finally the degradation due to additive noise on the collected SAR raw data.
