TL;DR: Results from the ESPRIT II project, CIM for Multi-supplier Operations (CMSO), show that an existing data infrastructure can be effectively utilized to develop inexpensive, customized tools to support a process of continuous improvements.
Abstract: Abstract. The view of manufacturing has changed in recent years. This is evident from how the focus of management's attention is shifting more and more towards the basics of operating the business. The challenge to manufacturers in the West today is how to introduce leaner practices in their operations. The objective of this paper is to demonstrate how computer technology and information systems can be applied to support the transition to leaner practices in a complex operation. The problem with the large information systems developed to manage the complex operations of many Western companies is that they were designed to help maintain performance and not to support finding opportunities for new improved practices. Results from the ESPRIT II project, CIM for Multi-supplier Operations (CMSO), show that an existing data infrastructure can be effectively utilized to develop inexpensive, customized tools to support a process of continuous improvements. In this project a set of tools for planning the ...

14 Apr 2014TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method for navigation of an aerial vehicle using a sensor image from an UAV sensor, where the input data comprises information related to pitch angle, roll angle, yaw angle and three-dimensional position of the UAV.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for navigation of an aerial vehicle. The method comprises providing a sensor image from an aerial vehicle sensor. The method also comprises to repeatedly, until at least one predetermined criterion is reached, perform the step of setting input data, where the input data comprises information related to pitch angle, roll angle, yaw angle and three-dimensional position of the aerial vehicle, the step of providing a two-dimensional image from a database based on the input data, where the database comprises three-dimensional geo-referenced information of the environment, and the step of comparing the sensor image and the two dimensional image from the database. The method further comprises using the input data for which the two images correspond best to each other for determining at least one of the following quantities pitch angle, roll angle, yaw angle and three-dimensional position of the aerial vehicle. The invention also relates to a system, a computer program and a computer program product.

10 Sep 2010TL;DR: The DC-PLC network showed shorter latency and lower bit-energy compared to the wireless alternatives when preamble time is kept at reasonable level, and compared to a wireless wearable network by studying and comparing the bit- energy of these networks.
Abstract: A DC power-line communication (PLC) network for wearable applications is proposed and studied. The DC-PLC network enhances wearability compared to other types of wired networks by requiring minimum amount of wiring. The DC-PLC transceiver is designed based on a low power high bandwidth active inductance circuit, thus not jeopardizing the low power property of the wired solution. The DC-PLC network is implemented in a wearable application and compared to a wireless wearable network by studying and comparing the bit-energy of these networks. The bit-energy study is based on a statistical model of the communication where message size and rate, preamble time and power measurements are included. The DC-PLC network showed shorter latency and lower bit-energy compared to the wireless alternatives when preamble time is kept at reasonable level.
