TL;DR: In this paper, the authors report on enhanced susceptibility for neutron-induced soft errors from accelerated testing of static random access memories (SRAMs), performed at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Abstract: We report on enhanced susceptibility for neutron-induced soft errors from accelerated testing of static random access memories (SRAMs), performed at Los Alamos National Laboratory. This enhancement is per bit of memory.

06 Apr 2003TL;DR: The Cramer-Rao lower bound can be interpreted and used in the design for INS systems, sensor performance or, if these are given, how much terrain or depth excitation that is needed for use in positioning and navigation.
Abstract: We have studied a sea navigation method relying on a digital underwater terrain map and sonar measurements. The method is applicable for both ships and underwater vessels. We have used experimental data to build an underwater map and to investigate the estimation performance. Since the problem is non-linear, due to the measurement relation, we apply a sequential Monte Carlo method, or particle filter, for the state estimation. The fundamental limitations in navigation uncertainty can be described in terms of the Cramer-Rao lower bound, which is interpreted in terms of the inertial navigation system (INS) error, the sensor accuracy and the terrain map excitation. Hence, the Cramer-Rao lower bound can be interpreted and used in the design for INS systems, sensor performance or, if these are given, how much terrain or depth excitation that is needed for use in positioning and navigation.

TL;DR: In this article, the vulnerability of the future electrified railway system in Europe from a high-power microwave (HPM) source is investigated, and the minimum realistic distances for the different HPM sources from the antenna to cause permanent damage is shown.
Abstract: In this paper, the vulnerability of the future electrified railway system in Europe from a high-power microwave (HPM) source is investigated. The scenario of in-band disturbances radiated toward a GSM-R antenna and damaging the connected communications system is evaluated for different classes of HPM sources and situations. The minimum realistic distances for the different HPM sources from the antenna to cause permanent damage is shown, and the severity of threat from the different sources is discussed.

23 Jul 2007TL;DR: The concept and initial breadboarding results of geostationary atmospheric sounder, which is being developed by Saab Space AB and Omnisys AB, Sweden, and funded by European Space Agency, are presented.
Abstract: This paper presents the concept and initial breadboarding results of geostationary atmospheric sounder (GAS), which is being developed by Saab Space AB and Omnisys AB, Sweden, and funded by European Space Agency (ESA). GAS utilizes interferometric synthetic aperture radiometry to obtain desired spatial (30 km) and temporal (nowcasting) resolution for measurement of atmospheric temperature and humidity profiles under all weather conditions. These parameters are decisively important to meteorological and climate models at all time scales.
