TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the time-varying high-frequency price-volume relationship from two perspectives and showed that the time varying conditional correlation between price and volume changes exhibits distinct excitational spike regimes.
Abstract: This article investigates the time-varying high-frequency price-volume relationship from two perspectives. At the high-frequency time scale, we show that the time varying conditional correlation between price and volume changes exhibits distinct excitational spike regimes that provide a rich set of patterns unexplored before. Impulse response analysis based on a high-frequency Vector-autoregressive specification show that volume has greater impact on price than vice versa. Our results therefore suggests that volume can be seen as a proxy for information flows. Due to market micro-structure contamination, we show that smoothing and pre-averaging is necessary to uncover the high-frequency relationship between price and volume.

TL;DR: In this article, the extent of silane reactivity was dependent upon the relative amounts of Ti(NMe2)4 and NH3 and each TDMAT molecule activated multiple silane molecules.
Abstract: Silane activation, predominantly in the gas phase, has been observed during the chemical vapor deposition of Ti-Si-N thin films using Ti(NMe2)4, tetrakis(dimethylamido)titanium, silane, and ammonia at 450°C, using molecular beam mass spectrometry. The extent of silane reactivity was dependent upon the relative amounts of Ti(NMe2)4and NH3. Additionally, each TDMAT molecule activates multiple silane molecules. Ti-Si-N thin films were deposited using similar process conditions as the molecular beam experiments, and RBS and XPS were used to determine their atomic composition. The variations of the Ti:Si ratio in the films as a function of Ti(NMe2)4 and NH3 flows were consistent with the changes in silane reactivity under similar conditions.

TL;DR: The authors showed that students can do their own original research and described how the research design, as both a process and a product, can structure the learning process for students and break it into manageable stages.
Abstract: When students learn research methods concepts without having to apply them to their own research the learning is quickly forgotten and not well understood. In this chapter the author shows that students can do their own original research and describes how the research design, as both a process and a product, can structure the learning process for students and break it into manageable stages. Three premises underlie this approach: A belief that students can do research, that students learn best when grappling with ideas that interest them, and starting at the student’s own level. As a result, students learn key research skills as well as developing a deeper understanding of the provisional and social nature of the way knowledge is produced.
