TL;DR: An RNA polymerase II complex that contains at least 12 novel subunits, termed the Integrator, in addition to core RNAPII subunits is described, which shows that Integrator is recruited to the U1 and U2 snRNA genes and mediates the snRNAs' 3' end processing.

TL;DR: Odds ratios indicate that subjects with high levels of social support were significantly less likely to be sedentary than those with low support, even after adjusting for race/ethnicity.

TL;DR: A common genetic vulnerability to nicotine and alcohol dependence in men is suggested, which may partially explain the clinical and epidemiological observations that alcoholics are often dependent smokers.
Abstract: Results: The heritability of nicotine dependence was 60.3% (95% confidence interval [CI], 55.4%-65.2%); that of alcohol dependence, 55.1% (95% CI, 49.7%-60.5%). The best-fitting model for the co-occurrence of lifetime nicotine and alcohol dependence included a substantial genetic correlation between both disorders (r = 0.68; 95% CI, 0.61-0.74) and a modest unique environmental correlation (r = 0.23; 95% CI, 0.14-0.32). Conclusions: These data suggest a common genetic vulnerability to nicotine and alcohol dependence in men. This common genetic influence may partially explain the clinical and epidemiological observations that alcoholics are often dependent smokers.

TL;DR: In a study population that was representative of the general population of HSV-1- and HSv-2-seronegative women, the investigational vaccine was effective in preventing HSV -1 genital disease and infection but not in preventingHSV-2 disease or infection.
Abstract: The HSV vaccine was associated with an increased risk of local reactions as compared with the control vaccine, and it elicited ELISA and neutralizing antibodies to HSV-2. Overall, the vaccine was not efficacious; vaccine efficacy was 20% (95% confidence interval [CI], −29 to 50) against genital herpes disease. However, efficacy against HSV-1 genital disease was 58% (95% CI, 12 to 80). Vaccine efficacy against HSV-1 infection (with or without disease) was 35% (95% CI, 13 to 52), but efficacy against HSV-2 infection was not observed (−8%; 95% CI, −59 to 26). Conclusions In a study population that was representative of the general population of HSV-1– and HSV-2–seronegative women, the investigational vaccine was effective in pre venting HSV-1 genital disease and infection but not in preventing HSV-2 disease or infection.
