TL;DR: In this article, two metal sensing apparatuses are used in an operable toy to cause the toy to follow a track of metallic or magnetic material, and the power to the motor is reversed when the metal or magnetic object is sensed.
Abstract: An operable toy utilizes a metal sensing apparatus which includes a tuned circuit which includes a pick-up coil. The resonance frequency of the resonance circuit shifts when the pick-up coil senses a metal or magnetic object. A motor is normally driven in the absence of the sensing of a metal or magnetic object. When the metal or magnetic object is sensed, the frequency shift of the tuned circuit including the pick-up coil attenuates the frequency produced by an oscillator and as the voltage of the signal produced by the oscillator is attenuated, a level detection circuit produces a low output to thereby disconnect the power from the motor. Alternatively, the power to the motor may be reversed. Two metal sensing apparatuses may be utilized in an operable toy to cause the toy to follow a track of metallic or magnetic material.

TL;DR: In this article, a method of forming improved contacts between interconnect layers of an integrated circuit including sputter depositing a metallic lower layer of interconnect material on a target, and patterning the layer of interfconnect material to form an interconnect layer.
Abstract: A method of forming improved contacts between interconnect layers of an integrated circuit including sputter depositing a metallic lower layer of interconnect material on a target, and patterning the layer of interconnect material to form an interconnect layer. A dielectric layer is then deposited over the interconnect layer, and via holes are formed through the dielectric layer. A polysilicon layer is deposited over the dielectric layer, including the side walls and bottom of the via holes, and then removed from the dielectric layer and the bottom of the via holes, by anisotropic etching, leaving polysilicon on the side walls. Tungsten is then selectively deposited on the bottom and side walls of the via holes forming metal plugs therein, and a second layer of interconnect material is sputter deposited over the dielectric layer and the metal plugs in the via holes thereby forming contacts between the first and second layers of interconnect material.

TL;DR: In this paper, a motor installed on a wall of a cassette housing operates a placement gear and a rotating member for safely placing a cassette holder on a deck and then also operates a ring gear, which is installed on the deck, in order to load video tape for reproduction.
Abstract: A motor installed on a wall of a cassette housing operates a placement gear and a rotating member for safely placing a cassette holder on a deck and then also operates a ring gear, which is installed on the deck, in order to load video tape for reproduction, thereby making it possible that both the action of placing the cassette holder on the deck and the action of loading the tape for reproduction can be achieved by using only one motor. A combination of a sector gear and a cam or a disc with a built-in spring can also be used in order to lock the cassette holder properly after the cassette holder, with the cassette held therein, is placed on the deck.

TL;DR: A battery charging circuit, which can charge storage batteries upto the required voltage level, and prevent them from being overcharged by use of a thyristor, a temperature sensor and a current regulation means as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A battery charging circuit, which can charge storage batteries upto the required voltage level, and prevent them from being overcharged by use of a thyristor, a temperature sensor and a current regulation means The circuit uses a regulated switched B + supply which is controlled by a transistor which is switched on and off by control of the thyristor The circuit of the present invention consequently can protect not only the storage batteries themselves, but also the electronic circuits and instruments, which use the storage batteries as their power sources, from being damaged due to overcharging

TL;DR: In this article, a floating gate type nonvolatile memory cell of the general class known as electrically erasable programmable read only memories, configured with a single polysilicon layer, operable in a direct write mode, and characterized by its absence of read disturb is presented.
Abstract: A floating gate type nonvolatile memory cell of the general class known as electrically erasable programmable read only memories, configured with a single polysilicon layer, operable in a direct write mode, and characterized by its absence of read disturb. In one form of its practice, the floating gate is divided into three regions situated with relation to specified regions in the substrate. The first region of the floating gate is dielectrically isolated from a conductively doped region in the substrate so as to form a capacitor; the second region is similarly situated, but forms a significantly smaller capacitor and utilizes a dielectric suitable for Fowler-Nordheim tunneling or Poole-Frenkel conduction of charge therethrough; and the third region overlaps a channel of a field effect type sense transistor, conduction through which is responsive to the charge resident on the floating gate. Access to the substrate regions is by way of three electrically independent but simultaneously enabled access transistors. Writing of data is accomplished by the division of voltage between capacitors, while reading is accomplished by detecting the conductive state of the sense transistor in an electrically independent conductive path.

TL;DR: In this article, a switching device for selectively controlling the flow of cooling air in a central cooling air duct of a refrigerator of the type having a cold storage space and a freezing storage space is presented.
Abstract: The present invention is related to a switching device for selectively controlling the flow of cooling air in a central cooling air duct of a refrigerator of the type having a cold storage space and a freezing storage space. In preferred embodiments, the switching apparatus includes a pivotal flap member disposed in a cooling air duct leading to both the freezing and cold storage spaces. A manually operable control lever is pivotably mounted at a housing attached to the cooling air duct and is interconnected to pivot the control flap valve by means of a connecting pin having one end connected to the control lever and the other end connected to a working lever which is in rotatably fixed with the pivot axis of the control flap.

Abstract: Amorphous Nickel-base alloys for electrical resistors, which contain, by atomic %, 81-x% Ni, x% Cr, 6% B and 13% Si (z=0˜25), or 70% Ni, 11% Cr, 19-y% B and y% Si (y=0˜19 except 13), or 100-z% of 0.864 Ni and 0.136 Cr and z% of 0.316 B and 0.684 Si (x=15˜25 except 19), and have a relatively high electrical resistivity and a small temperature coefficient of resistivity, are disclosed. Their resistance values can be adjusted by heat treatment and the thermal stability of them after heat treatment is very good in the conventional operating temperature range of electrical components.

TL;DR: In this paper, the CRT clock is essentially divided so that one half of the clock cycle is used for communication from the CPU to the video memory means, which occurs on an interleaved basis with the normal refresh cycle rate.
Abstract: Video control circuitry for controlling the video format presented to the cathod ray tube or screen and capable of providing a combination of character generation and cell generation along with other video types of control. The video controller may comprise a video memory means for controlling writing into and reading therefrom and means defining both a memory address and a memory data. There is a video data bus coupled to the video memory means and a processor address bus. A cathode ray tube controller has address lines and the address lines are connected to multiplexer means for selecting either the the controller address lines or the processor lines. Control means are provided for controlling the multiplexer means so that in one state thereof the video memory means is addressed from the cathode ray tube controller means and in the other state the video memory means is addressed from the central processing unit address. This occurs on an interleaved basis with the CRT clock basically operating at the normal refresh cycle rate. However, in accordance with the invention the CRT clock is essentially divided so that one half of the clock cycle is used for communication from the CPU to the video memory means. This provides for improved screen display.
