TL;DR: It is argued that individual behaviors are the products of the interaction between culture, culture, social roles, and personality and that situational context moderates the relative contributions of the three sources in influencing behavior.
Abstract: In this article I propose a model that posits three major sources of influence on behavior-basic human nature (via universal psychological processes), culture (via social roles), and personality (via individual role identities) and argue that individual behaviors are the products of the interaction between the three. I discuss how culture emerges from the interaction of basic human nature and the ecological contexts in which groups exist, and how social roles are determined by culture-specific psychological meanings attributed to situational contexts. The model further suggests that situational context moderates the relative contributions of the three sources in influencing behavior. I provide examples of apparent contradictory findings in the study of emotion that can be explained by the model proposed.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a review of three measurement issues that impact the study of entrepreneurship over time: (1) level of analysis difference between firms and individuals, (2) differences between rate and stock measures, and (3) the effects of choosing particular time frames on subsequent analytical results.

TL;DR: This paper explores self-efficacy, sense of belonging, and science identity, as well as emerging assessment tools to monitor these dimensions of students' learning.
Abstract: While emphasis is often placed on assessing students' conceptual knowledge, less has been placed on investigating affective aspects of student biology learning. In this paper, we explore self-efficacy, sense of belonging, and science identity, as well as emerging assessment tools to monitor these dimensions of students' learning.

TL;DR: An economic model is developed that is used to estimate the lifetime cost of all head injuries sustained in 1985 that resulted in hospitalization or death and these estimates are presented by age, gender, and severity of injury.
Abstract: Head injuries are costly in terms of lives lost, productivity losses, and health care expenditures. This article develops an economic model that is used to estimate the lifetime cost of all head injuries sustained in 1985 that resulted in hospitalization or death. Included are the costs of medical services, productivity lost because of illness and disability, and mortality costs resulting from premature death. These estimates are presented by age, gender, and severity of injury. The cost of head injuries is compared with the cost of all injuries. The need for better data on the incidence, health care needs, and service utilization of head-injured persons is noted.

TL;DR: A clear transition from two-dimensional discrete diffraction to discrete solitons in such a partially coherent lattice is demonstrated and the nonlinear interaction process is associated with a host of new phenomena including lattice dislocation, lattice deformation, and creation of structures akin to optical polarons.
Abstract: We investigate both experimentally and theoretically the interaction between a light beam and a photonic lattice optically induced with partially coherent light. We demonstrate a clear transition from two-dimensional discrete diffraction to discrete solitons in such a partially coherent lattice and show that the nonlinear interaction process is associated with a host of new phenomena including lattice dislocation, lattice deformation, and creation of structures akin to optical polarons.
