TL;DR: NoC is an approach to design the communication subsystem between IP cores in a System on Chip (SoC) that can span synchronous and asynchronous clock domains or use unclocked asynchronous logic.
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to give briefing of the concept of network-on-chip (NoC). NoC is an approach to design the communication subsystem between IP cores in a System on Chip (SoC). NoCs can span synchronous and asynchronous clock domains or use unclocked asynchronous logic. This NoC brings an effective improvement over conventional busses and cross bar switches. The power requirement of the SoC is high where as it can be reduced by the NoC architecture. NoC is an developing paper in the field of VLSI. Since the use of emerging NoC architecture in VLSI it reduces the size of the architecture due to the reduced amount of buses and transmission lines. .\" In a NoC system, modules such as processor cores, memories and specialized IP blocks exchange data using a network as a \"public transportation\" sub-system for the information traffic. The wires in the links of the NoC are shared by many signals

TL;DR: In this article, a distributed power flow controller (DPFC) is used to mitigate the voltage deviation and improve power quality in a single-machine infinite bus power system including two parallel transmission lines, which simulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment.
Abstract: According to growth of electricity demand and the increased number of non-linear loads in power grids, providing a high quality electrical power should be considered. In this paper, voltage sag and swell of the power quality issues are studied and distributed power flow controller (DPFC) is used to mitigate the voltage deviation and improve power quality. The DPFC is a new FACTS device, which its structure is similar to unified power flow controller (UPFC). In spite of UPFC, in DPFC the common dc-link between the shunt and series converters is eliminated and three-phase series converter is divided to several single-phase series distributed converters through the line. The case study contains a DPFC sited in a single-machine infinite bus power system including two parallel transmission lines, which simulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The presented simulation results validate the DPFC ability to improve the power quality.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of dilution rate on the removal of total chemical oxygen demand and nitrate in the draft tube spouted bed reactor and morphological characteristics of biofilms formed by microorganisms of mixed culture on granular activated carbon (GAC) was investigated.
Abstract: The present paper investigates the effect of dilution rate on the removal of total chemical oxygen demand and nitrate in the draft tube spouted bed reactor and morphological characteristics of biofilms formed by microorganisms of mixed culture on granular activated carbon (GAC). The nitrate and total chemical oxygen demand (COD) decreased from 97 to 81% and 95% to 87% respectively with increase in dilution rate from 0.6/h to 1.5/h showing that residence time in the reactor governs the nitrate and total COD reduction efficiency. Lower dilution rates favor higher production of biomass and extracellular polymeric substances (EPS). It was observed that the nitrate and total COD reduction rate increased with time along with simultaneous increase in EPS production. Thus, the performance of a reactor in terms of dynamic and steady-state biofilm characteristics associated with nitrate and organic reduction is a strong function of dilution rate. Hence these findings indicate that a draft tube spouted bed reactor is capable of simultaneously reducing total organics and nitrogen in industrial/municipal wastewater, as this reactor possesses two distinct regions aerobic and anoxic conditions which can prevail in different parts of a reactor.
