TL;DR: Development of myopic optic disc and γ-zone PPA during myopia progression was delineated using SD OCT images and the association of axial elongation with ONH and peripapillary tissue changes may facilitate understanding of the relationship between myopia and glaucoma.

TL;DR: An automatic garment pattern design system using three-dimensional body scan data has been developed and multi-resolution mesh generation along with optimum planar pattern mapping algorithm were used to generate the optimum two-dimensional patterns of the garment.
Abstract: An automatic garment pattern design system using three-dimensional body scan data has been developed. A body model has been generated from massive body scan data using segmentation and the Fourier series expansion method. The surface geometry of a standard garment model used in the apparel industry was reconstructed by stereovision technique and converted into a mesh structure. Surface warping algorithm was used to make an equalized geometry of two models, and multi-resolution mesh generation along with optimum planar pattern mapping algorithm were used to generate the optimum two-dimensional patterns of the garment.

07 Mar 2005TL;DR: A reconfigurable array architecture template and a design space exploration flow for domain-specific optimization are suggested and Experimental results show that this approach is much more efficient, in both performance and area, compared to existing reconfigured array architectures.
Abstract: Coarse-grained reconfigurable architectures aim to achieve goals of both high performance and flexibility. However, existing reconfigurable array architectures require many resources without considering the specific application domain. Functional resources that take long latency and/or large area can be pipelined and/or shared among the processing elements. Therefore, the hardware cost and the delay can be effectively reduced without any performance degradation for some application domains. We suggest such a reconfigurable array architecture template and a design space exploration flow for domain-specific optimization. Experimental results show that our approach is much more efficient, in both performance and area, compared to existing reconfigurable architectures.

TL;DR: The major finding is that insomnia is significantly associated with the menopausal transition, and the prevalence of insomnia increases significantly by the transition from premenopause to perimenopause, but not to post menopause.
Abstract: Although the prevalence of insomnia and the association of insomnia with menopause have been well reported, not much work has been conducted in population-based research on insomnia and menopause in Korea. The purpose of the present report was to determine overall and different prevalence of insomnia by menopausal status, and the relationship between insomnia and menopause in a population-based sample of middle-aged Korean women. A total of 96.1% of 2497 randomly selected middle-aged Korean women participated. Insomnia was defined as occurring three times a week or more in the previous month. Subjects were categorized into three groups: premenopaues, perimenopause, and postmenopause. The overall prevalence of insomnia in middle-aged Korean women was 14.3%. The most common symptom of insomnia was difficulty maintaining sleep (9.7%), followed by difficulty initiating sleep (7.9%), and early morning awakening (7.5%). Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that menopause was independently associated with insomnia after adjusting for confounding factors such as age, income, and depression. Perimenopause was significantly associated with a dramatic increase in the risk of insomnia, but there was no significant association for postmenopause. The major finding is that insomnia is significantly associated with the menopausal transition. The prevalence of insomnia increases significantly by the transition from premenopause to perimenopause, but not to postmenopause. A further prospective study is needed to investigate the influence of menopause on insomnia.

TL;DR: In this article, a 12-year time series of ECS-Kuroshio transport crossing the C-line (KT) is used to determine an empirical relationship between sea-level anomaly difference (SLA) across the Kuroshio in the East China Sea and net transport near 28°N.
Abstract: Data from satellite altimeters and from a 13-month deployment of in situ instruments are used to determine an empirical relationship between sea-level anomaly difference (SLA) across the Kuroshio in the East China Sea (ECS-Kuroshio) and net transport near 28°N. Applying this relationship to the altimeter data, we obtain a 12-year time series of ECS-Kuroshio transport crossing the C-line (KT). The resulting mean transport is 18.7 ± 0.2 Sv with 1.8 Sv standard deviation. This KT is compared with a similarly-determined time series of net Ryukyu Current transport crossing the O-line near 26°N southeast of Okinawa (RT). Their mean sum (24 Sv) is less than the mean predicted Sverdrup transport. These KT and RT mean-flow estimates form a consistent pattern with historical estimates of other mean flows in the East China Sea/Philippine Basin region. While mean KT is larger than mean RT by a factor of 3.5, the amplitude of the KT annual cycle is only half that of RT. At the 95% confidence level the transports are coherent at periods of about 2 years and 100–200 days, with RT leading KT by about 60 days in each case. At the annual period, the transports are coherent at the 90% confidence level with KT leading RT by 4–5 months. While the bulk of the Kuroshio enters the ECS through the channel between Taiwan and Yonaguni-jima, analysis of satellite altimetry maps, together with the transport time series, indicates that the effect of mesoscale eddies is transmitted to the ECS via the Kerama Gap southwest of Okinawa. Once the effect of these eddies is felt by the ECS-Kuroshio at 28°N, it is advected rapidly to the Tokara Strait.
