TL;DR: Multivariate analysis identified the prognostic factors predictive of poor visual outcome, which included: (1) presence of an afferent pupillary defect; (2) double perforating injuries; and (3), presence of intraocular foreign bodies.
Abstract: The results of vitrectomy in 240 consecutive cases of ocular trauma were reviewed. Of these cases, 71.2% were war injuries. Intraocular foreign bodies were present in 155 eyes, of which 74.8% were metallic and 61.9% ferromagnetic. Multivariate analysis identified the prognostic factors predictive of poor visual outcome, which included: (1) presence of an afferent pupillary defect; (2) double perforating injuries; and (3) presence of intraocular foreign bodies. Association of vitreous hemorrhage with intraocular foreign bodies was predictive of a poor prognosis. Eyes with foreign bodies retained in the anterior segment and vitreous had a better prognosis than those with foreign bodies embedded in the retina. Timing of vitrectomy and type of trauma had no significant effect on the final visual results. Prophylactic scleral buckling reduced the incidence of retinal detachment after surgery. Injuries confined to the cornea had a better prognosis than scleral injuries.

TL;DR: It is concluded that BBS-induced suppression of feeding may be mediated through central BBS receptors, and is independent of interaction with brain catecholaminergic system.
Abstract: Intraperitoneal (IP) administration of bombesin (BBS; 2.5-20 micrograms/kg) induced a dose-dependent inhibition of food intake. The effect was decreased by intraventricular (ICV) administration of bombesin receptor antagonist [Leu14-psi (CH2NH)-Leu13] (3 micrograms/rat) but not by the D1 antagonist SCH 23390, the D2 antagonists sulpiride and pimozide, the dopamine antagonist cis-flupentixol, adrenoceptor blockers phenoxybenzamine or propranolol and serotonergic antagonist methergoline. It is concluded that BBS-induced suppression of feeding may be mediated through central BBS receptors, and is independent of interaction with brain catecholaminergic system.

TL;DR: The results of this research indicated that the lower value for IgE was detected in children at birth, while the highest value was in 10 year old children, and it has been concluded that with increasing age, the IgE level will also increase.
Abstract: In order to detennine the normal values of total IgE in children, 3270 sera were taken from 0-14 year old males and females in different parts of Tehran, the capital of Iran. The technique which was used to measure total IgE was ELISA method using monoclonal anti-IgE antibody. The results of this research indicated that the lower value for IgE was detected in children at birth (X=3.S3 IU/mL), while the highest value was in 10 year old children (X=74.63 IU/mL). Therefore, it has been concluded that with increasing age, the IgE level will also increase (r=0.919). Regardless of the age value, the IgE content in both males and females are the same. But concerning age and sex, the IgE level in four year old girls was higher (X=44.92) than similarly aged boys (X=28.2) (P
