TL;DR: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and autologous whole blood injections are both effective methods to treat chronic lateral epicondylitis and their efficacy persisted during long term follow up.
Abstract: Lateral humeral epicondylitis, or ‘tennis elbow’, is a common condition with a variety of treatment options Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and Autologous Whole Blood (AWB) represent new therapeutic options for chronic tendinopathies including tennis elbow The aim of the present study was to compare the long term effects of PRP versus autologous whole blood local injection in patients with chronic tennis elbow Seventy six patients with chronic lateral humeral epicondylitis with duration of symptoms more than 3 months were included in this study and randomized into 2 groups Group 1 was treated with a single injection of 2 mL of autologous leukocyte rich PRP (48 times of plasma) and group 2 with 2 mL of AWB Tennis elbow strap, stretching and strengthening exercises were administered for both groups Pain and functional improvements were assessed using visual analogue scale (VAS), Mayo score (modified Mayo Clinic performance index for the elbow) and pressure pain threshold (PPT) at 0, 4, 8 weeks and 6 and 12 months All pain variables including VAS, PPT and Mayo scores improved significantly in both groups at each follow up intervals compared to baseline No statistically significant difference was noted between groups regarding pain, functional scores and treatment success rates in all follow up examinations (P >0/05) PRP and autologous whole blood injections are both effective methods to treat chronic lateral epicondylitis and their efficacy persisted during long term follow up PRP was not superior to AWB in long term follow up

TL;DR: In this article, a prebiotic sausage formulation by resistant starch (RS), β-glucan (BG) and starch (ST) according to D-optimal mixture design approach is presented.
Abstract: The objective of this study was optimization of prebiotic sausage formulation by resistant starch (RS), β-glucan (BG) and starch (ST) according to D-optimal mixture design approach. Results demonstrated RS, BG and ST had noticeable effect on physical and sensory properties of sausage, RS had a negative effect on cooking yield, but it's interaction with BG and ST showed positive effect. Also a positive correlation was found between cooking yield and frying loss. RS increased hardness but RS/BG had antagonistic effect and produced a softer texture. The sensory evaluation of color and texture were correlated to instrumental color and texture analysis. Optimum formulation obtained according to overall acceptability, cooking yield, frying loss and hardness contained 2.216% RS, 1.328% BG and 2.456% ST with desirability equals to 0.878. The obtained results suggest that production of prebiotic sausage by using combination of RS and BG is possible.

TL;DR: Dramatic destruction of cancer cells was observed while using of indirect plasma-chemotherapy combination, thus introducing an effective method for deep tissue tumors can be introduced.
Abstract: In this study a novel method was implemented and investigated in order to destroy cancer cells inside the mouse body on a clinical level. In the case of in-vitro study, MTT assay was employed to discover an effective dose of applied plasma and distinguish the plasma effect in direct and in indirect treatments. Tumor growth was also measured in in-vivo section so that the effectiveness of direct and indirect treatments could be compared. Furthermore, an investigation was conducted to study the interferences between a conventional method (chemotherapy) and plasma treatment so as to increase the effectiveness of treatment inside the body. Hematoxylin and Eosin, Flow Cytometry, TUNEL and Western Blot assay were used to investigate any cell alteration and the impact of various treatment methods on cancer cell and amount of their apoptosis and protein levels. Radiology and CT scan images were taken to determine the final tumor volume. The results showed a significant cell death and substantial reduction in tumor growth in direct plasma treatment in comparison with indirect plasma treatment. Eventually, dramatic destruction of cancer cells was observed while using of indirect plasma-chemotherapy combination, thus introducing an effective method for deep tissue tumors can be introduced.

TL;DR: Overall, significant relationship was observed between meteorological parameters and the concentration of bacterial and fungal aerosols and primary treatment had the highest impact on fungal emission.
Abstract: Bioaerosol concentration was measured in wastewater treatment units in south of Tehran, the largest wastewater treatment plant in the Middle East. Active sampling was carried out around four operational units and a point as background. The results showed that the aeration tank with an average of 1016 CFU/m3 in winter and 1973 CFU/m3 in summer had the greatest effect on emission of bacterial bioaerosols. In addition, primary treatment had the highest impact on fungal emission. Among the bacteria, Micrococcus spp. showed the widest emission in the winter, and Bacillus spp. was dominant in summer. Furthermore, fungi such as Penicillium spp. and Cladosporium spp. were the dominant types in the seasons. Overall, significant relationship was observed between meteorological parameters and the concentration of bacterial and fungal aerosols.
