TL;DR: A narrative review appraised epidemiological and clinical aspects of the disease including genetic diversity of coronavirus genus, mode of transmission, incubation period, infectivity, pathogenicity, virulence, immunogenicity and diagnosis, surveillance, clinical case management and also successful measures for preventing its spread in some communities.
Abstract: There are significant misconceptions and many obstacles in the way of illuminating the epidemiological and clinical aspects of COVID-19 as a new emerging epidemic. In addition, usefulness of some evidence published in the context of the recent epidemic for decision making in clinic as well as public health is questionable. However, misinterpreting or ignoring strong evidence in clinical practice and public health probably results in less effective and somehow more harmful decisions for individuals as well as subgroups in general populations of countries in the initial stages of this epidemic. Accordingly, our narrative review appraised epidemiological and clinical aspects of the disease including genetic diversity of coronavirus genus, mode of transmission, incubation period, infectivity, pathogenicity, virulence, immunogenicity, diagnosis, surveillance, clinical case management and also successful measures for preventing its spread in some communities.

TL;DR: The matters of controversy that would be helpful for determining research priorities in different countries are discussed and a model similar to the TB-HIV program for prevention, screening and treatment of both diseases can be the best approach.
Abstract: Tuberculosis (TB) and diabetes mellitus (DM) are both important health issues. A bidirectional association between them has been demonstrated by many researchers. The link of DM and TB is more prominent in developing countries where TB is endemic and the burden of diabetes mellitus is increasing. The association between diabetes and tuberculosis may be the next challenge for global tuberculosis control worldwide. Proper planning and collaboration are necessary to reduce the dual burden of diabetes and TB. One model similar to the TB-HIV program for prevention, screening and treatment of both diseases can be the best approach. In this paper, we review existing data and discuss the matters of controversy that would be helpful for determining research priorities in different countries.

TL;DR: MTA and CEM cement showed similar favorable biological response in furcation perforation repair, especially in inducing the formation of cementum-like hard tissue.
Abstract: The aim of this study was to compare the histologic response elicited by repairing furcal perforations with mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and a new endodontic material in the name of “calcium enriched mixture (CEM) cement” in dogs’ teeth. Thirty-four premolars were randomly divided into four groups: MTA (n = 15), CEM (n = 15), positive, and negative controls (n = 4). Root canal therapy were carried out; perforations were made, and the furcation areas were then repaired with MTA or CEM cement. The animals were sacrificed after 3 months. The teeth and their adjacent structures were processed and stained with hematoxylin and eosin stain for histological evaluation. Chi-square test was used to evaluate hard tissue formation, and Mann–Whitney U test was used for the histological evaluation of inflammation. Specimens in positive controls showed severe inflammatory infiltration, prominent granulation tissue, and epithelial proliferation; negative controls demonstrated normal periodontal ligament without inflammatory reactions. Hard tissue formation was observed in all the specimens of the two experimental groups. In inflammatory evaluation, mild inflammation was detected in the experimental groups, and no statistically significant differences were observed between them. MTA and CEM cement showed similar favorable biological response in furcation perforation repair, especially in inducing the formation of cementum-like hard tissue.
