TL;DR: The resource allocation problem in both the uplink and the downlink for two-tier networks comprising spectrum-sharing femtocells and macrocells is investigated and an iterative subchannel and power allocation algorithm considering heterogeneous services and cross-tier interference is proposed.
Abstract: Femtocells are being considered a promising technique to improve the capacity and coverage for indoor wireless users. However, the cross-tier interference in the spectrum-sharing deployment of femtocells can degrade the system performance seriously. The resource allocation problem in both the uplink and the downlink for two-tier networks comprising spectrum-sharing femtocells and macrocells is investigated. A resource allocation scheme for cochannel femtocells is proposed, aiming to maximize the capacity for both delay-sensitive users and delay-tolerant users subject to the delay-sensitive users' quality-of-service constraint and an interference constraint imposed by the macrocell. The subchannel and power allocation problem is modeled as a mixed-integer programming problem, and then, it is transformed into a convex optimization problem by relaxing subchannel sharing; finally, it is solved by the dual decomposition method. Subsequently, an iterative subchannel and power allocation algorithm considering heterogeneous services and cross-tier interference is proposed for the problem using the subgradient update. A practical low-complexity distributed subchannel and power allocation algorithm is developed to reduce the computational cost. The complexity of the proposed algorithms is analyzed, and the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms is verified by simulations.

TL;DR: This work proposes a credit-based proof-of-work (PoW) mechanism for IoT devices, which can guarantee system security and transaction efficiency simultaneously, and designs a data authority management method to regulate the access to sensor data.
Abstract: Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) plays an indispensable role for Industry 4.0, where people are committed to implement a general, scalable, and secure IIoT system to be adopted across various industries. However, existing IIoT systems are vulnerable to single point of failure and malicious attacks, which cannot provide stable services. Due to the resilience and security promise of blockchain, the idea of combining blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT) gains considerable interest. However, blockchains are power-intensive and low-throughput, which are not suitable for power-constrained IoT devices. To tackle these challenges, we present a blockchain system with credit-based consensus mechanism for IIoT. We propose a credit-based proof-of-work (PoW) mechanism for IoT devices, which can guarantee system security and transaction efficiency simultaneously. In order to protect sensitive data confidentiality, we design a data authority management method to regulate the access to sensor data. In addition, our system is built based on directed acyclic graph -structured blockchains, which is more efficient than the Satoshi-style blockchain in performance. We implement the system on Raspberry Pi, and conduct a case study for the smart factory. Extensive evaluation and analysis results demonstrate that credit-based PoW mechanism and data access control are secure and efficient in IIoT.

TL;DR: The construction of two-dimensional COFs with chiral functionalities embedded into the frameworks by imine condensations of enantiopure TADDOL-derived tetraaldehydes with 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane are reported, which will greatly expand the scope of materials design and engineering for the creation of new types of functional porous materials.
Abstract: There have been breakthroughs in the development of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with tunability of composition, structure, and function, but the synthesis of chiral COFs remains a great challenge. Here we report the construction of two-dimensional COFs with chiral functionalities embedded into the frameworks by imine condensations of enantiopure TADDOL-derived tetraaldehydes with 4,4′-diaminodiphenylmethane. Powder X-ray diffraction and computer modeling together with pore size distribution analysis show that one COF has a twofold-interpenetrated grid-type network and the other has a non-interpenetrated grid network. After postsynthetic modification of the chiral dihydroxy groups of TADDOL units with Ti(OiPr)4, the materials are efficient and recyclable heterogeneous catalysts for asymmetric addition of diethylzinc to aldehydes with high enantioselectivity. The results reported here will greatly expand the scope of materials design and engineering for the creation of new types of functional porous ...

TL;DR: The endosomal-lysosomal system is emerging as a central player in a host of neurodegenerative diseases, demonstrating potential roles which are likely to be revealed in pathogenesis and for viable therapeutic strategies.
Abstract: The endosomal-lysosomal system is made up of a set of intracellular membranous compartments that dynamically interconvert, which is comprised of early endosomes, recycling endosomes, late endosomes, and the lysosome. In addition, autophagosomes execute autophagy, which delivers intracellular contents to the lysosome. Maturation of endosomes and/or autophagosomes into a lysosome creates an unique acidic environment within the cell for proteolysis and recycling of unneeded cellular components into usable amino acids and other biomolecular building blocks. In the endocytic pathway, gradual maturation of endosomes into a lysosome and acidification of the late endosome are accompanied by vesicle trafficking, protein sorting and targeted degradation of some sorted cargo. Two opposing sorting systems are operating in these processes: the endosomal sorting complex required for transport (ESCRT) supports targeted degradation and the retromer supports retrograde retrieval of certain cargo. The endosomal-lysosomal system is emerging as a central player in a host of neurodegenerative diseases, demonstrating potential roles which are likely to be revealed in pathogenesis and for viable therapeutic strategies. Here we focus on the physiological process of endosomal-lysosomal maturation, acidification and sorting systems along the endocytic pathway, and further discuss relationships between abnormalities in the endosomal-lysosomal system and neurodegenerative diseases, especially Alzheimer’s disease (AD).
