TL;DR: Using combined microstructural and electroluminescence (EL) investigations of the Er-doped Ge-rich SiO2 layers, it was established that the Ge-related oxygen-deficiency centers (GeODCs), which are associated with the 407 nm light emission, are situated at the Ge nanocrystal/SiO2 interface as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: Using combined microstructural and electroluminescence (EL) investigations of the Er-doped Ge-rich SiO2 layers, it is established that the Ge-related oxygen-deficiency centers (GeODCs), which are associated with the 407 nm light emission, are situated at the Ge nanocrystal/SiO2 interface. Electrically driven energy transfer from the Er3+ to GeODCs causes an increase in the 407 nm EL intensity. It reaches a maximum before quenching with increasing Er concentration due to the crystalline-to-amorphous transition of Ge nanocrystals. Ge concentration dependent quenching of the maximum EL intensity and the peak shifting toward higher Er concentration are discussed in terms of the reduction of the surface-to-volume ratio with increasing nanocrystal size.

TL;DR: Pyrrole and indole derivatives are functionalized via a green initiative with the dimethyl malonate derived phenyl iodonium ylide 4a in the presence of a blue LED via C-H functionalization of the respective heterocycles in methanol to generate the desired compounds 5-7 in moderate to good yields.
Abstract: Pyrrole and indole derivatives are functionalized via a green initiative with the dimethyl malonate derived phenyl iodonium ylide 4a in the presence of a blue LED via C-H functionalization of the respective heterocycles in methanol to generate the desired compounds 5-7 in moderate to good yields. Control experiments provide insight into the probable reaction mechanism. Finally, the strategy is successfully applied in the generation of azepino[4,5-b]indole 12a/b.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examine how Bhil tribal leaders of the Vanvasi Kalyan Parishad (VKP), a branch of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist organisation, profess an ethic of des seva, or work and care for the nation, while describing their work with the VKP.
Abstract: Based on fieldwork in Udaipur district in Rajasthan, this article examines how Bhil tribal leaders of the Vanvasi Kalyan Parishad (VKP), a branch of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist organisation, profess an ethic of des seva, or work and care for the nation, while describing their work with the VKP. Focusing on the VKP and RSS campaigns to Ayodhya in 1990 and 1992 and to the Shabari Kumbh in 2006, I examine the shifts in the political and ethical repertoires that shape tribal VKP fieldworkers’ modalities of action and forms of self-making during travel at these different moments in time. During these campaigns, non-tribal leaders sought to discipline tribal leaders, referring to historically constructed ideas and practices about the civilisational inferiority of tribals, in order to show that they can never properly engage in des seva. The article draws on incidents from these two campaigns in order to show how tribal leaders fashion themselves in relation to how others believe t...

TL;DR: In this paper, quantum corrections to the Newtonian law of inertia were considered in the general setting of Verlinde's entropic force postulate, and the form for the modified Newtonian dynamics (MOND) emerged in a classical setting by seeking appropriate corrections in the entropy.
Abstract: Quantum and noncommutative corrections to the Newtonian law of inertia are considered in the general setting of Verlinde’s entropic force postulate. We demonstrate that the form for the modified Newtonian dynamics (MOND) emerges in a classical setting by seeking appropriate corrections in the entropy. We estimate the correction term by using concrete coherent states in the standard and generalized versions of Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle. Using Jackiw’s direct and analytic method, we compute the explicit wavefunctions for these states, producing minimal length as well as minimal products. Subsequently, we derive a further selection criterium restricting the free parameters in the model in providing a canonical formulation of the quantum corrected Newtonian law by setting up the Lagrangian and Hamiltonian for the system.
