TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated linear elastic systems with damping in Hilbert spaces, where A is a positive definite unbounded linear operator and B is a closed linear operator related in various ways to $A^\alpha (\frac{1}{2} \leqq \alpha \LEqq 1)$.
Abstract: In the present paper we investigate linear elastic systems with damping $\ddot y + B\dot y + Ay = 0$ in Hilbert spaces, where A is a positive definite unbounded linear operator and B is a closed linear operator related in various ways to $A^\alpha (\frac{1}{2} \leqq \alpha \leqq 1)$. We discuss the spectral property of these systems and obtain some fundamental results for the holomorphic property and the exponential stability of the semigroups associated with these systems.

TL;DR: The results show that various steps of the chromosomal cycle can be affected by certain chemical agents, and these treatments lead to chromosomal aberrations, and other testing systems should be used in addition to the SCE system.
Abstract: Pingyanymycin (PYM), and antitumor-antibiotic complex which belongs to the bleomycin family can induce "G2-free chromatin" and "uncompleted-packing-mitotic figures" (UPM) at increased frequency after treatment of cultured human lymphocytes. PYM can also induce an extraordinarily high frequency of chromosomal breaks but few sister-chromatid exchanges (SCE) in the same experiment, which is similar to the action of bleomycin. To solve this remarkable contradiction we presume that the UPM is related to a basic mechanism for producing chromosomal aberrations. Our results also show that various steps of the chromosomal cycle can be affected by certain chemical agents, and these treatments lead to chromosomal aberrations. Thus, other testing systems should be used in addition to the SCE system.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors introduce the weak vroduct structure, which is defined as the restriction to spatial locales of a symmetric monoldal structure defined on the whole category of locales (which they denote by (A,B) ~ A@B), such that A@ B is a dense sublocale of A ×l B for any A and B.
Abstract: It is well known (of [6], section 2) that one of the salient differences between the category of locales and that of spaces is that the notions of product in the two categories do not coincide: that is, if X and Y are spaces, with open-set lattices ~(X) and ~(Y), the locale product~l(X) ×l~(Y) is in general different from ~(X × Y) (Note: here and throughout the paper, our notation relating to locales is taken from [5]) In this paper, we introduce a construction which goes some way towards "reconciling" this difference: specifically, we show that the assignment (~(X),O(Y)) ~ ~(X× Y) is the restriction to spatial locales of a symmetric monoldal structure defined on the whole category of locales (which we denote by (A,B) ~ A@B, and call the weak vroduct structure), such that A@ B is (naturally) a dense sublocale of A ×l B for any A and B (There is also an infinitary version of @, which we shall define although we shall not investigate its properties in any great detail) Consideration of the extent to which @ differs from the categorical product leads us to introduce a new class of "we~kly spatial" locales, which forms the largest (coreflectlve) subcategory of Lo~c on which the restriction of @ yields the categorical product; thanks to a recent example of K~i~ and Pultr, we know that it is strictly larger than the class of spatial locales

TL;DR: In this paper, the bipartition model for light ion transport has been extended to treat the transport problem of obliquely incident ions, a case which the standard transport theory cannot easily solve.
Abstract: Recently, the bipartition theory of electron transport has been successfully extended to the case of ion beam injection. In this paper the bipartition model for light ion transport has been extended to treat the transport problem of obliquely incident ions, a case which the standard transport theory cannot easily solve. Comparisons are made with TRIM-86, and it is shown that the results from bipartition model are in good agreement with Monte Carlo data. The computational efficiency of the bipartition model is much higher than that of TRIM-86.

TL;DR: In this article, the Riemann-Hilbert mixed-boundary value problem is employed to solve the gravity-affected potential flows through curvilinear and straight segmental flip buckets.
Abstract: Previous analytical studies on potential flows past spillway flip buckets have almost always been done based on the essential asssumption that gravity effects on the bucket flows can be neglected. This limits their applications only to flows with very large Frounde numbers past very high dams. The Riemann-Hilbert mixed-boundary value problem technique is employed herein to solve the gravity-affected potential flows through curvilinear and straight segmental flip buckets. Pressure distributions along the flip buckets and exit angles of the deflecting jet are computed by solving the resulting integral equations. Experimental data on pressure distributions along the bucket have been compared with this theoretical analysis, and it is shown that the agreement is satisfactory. This is a great improvement over the previous solutions in the absence of gravity.

TL;DR: In this article, a distributive lattice with 0 and 1 is represented by a set of prime ideals with the Stone-Zariski topology, and the subspaces of spec A consisting of maximal and minimal prime ideals respectively.
Abstract: Throughout this paper, A will denote a distributive lattice with 0 and 1; we shall write spec A for the prime spectrum of A (i.e. the set of prime ideals of A , with the Stone–Zariski topology), and max A , min A for the subspaces of spec A consisting of maximal and minimal prime ideals respectively. These two subspaces have rather different topological properties: max A is always compact, but not always Hausdorff (indeed, any compact T 1 -space can occur as max A for some A ), and min A is always Hausdorff (in fact zero-dimensional), but not always compact. (For more information on max A and min A , see Simmons[3].)

TL;DR: In this article, it has been considered that a surface barrier affects the transport behaviour of ions which are incident upon the surface and a return condition for reflection ions at the surface has been introduced and transformed in a way to allow surface gathering of ions to be described.
Abstract: In many experiments with low energy ion injection, it has been found that abnormal ion gathering often appears at the surface of the samples. The abnormally high ion concentration rapidly disappears with increasing energy of the incident ions. This phenomenon is usually attributed to imperfect vacuum conditions, i.e. the so-called H-contamination. In this paper it has been considered that a surface barrier affects the transport behaviour of ions which are incident upon the surface. The analyses shows that a surface barrier could be one of the main factors leading to local high ion concentrations at the surface. A return condition for reflection ions at the surface has been introduced and transformed in a way to allow surface gathering of ions to be described.

TL;DR: In this paper, a new optical method for density pseudo-coloring that the color can be adjustable is presented, which uses the diffraction effect of dual gratings and filtering technique in white-light system.
Abstract: This paper presents a new optical method for density pseudo-coloring that the color can be adjustable. This method is based on the technique for phase image pseudo-coloring and realizes adjustable pseudo-coloring by using the diffraction effect of dual gratings and filtering technique in white-light system. First the paper proves the principle of the method. Then it verifies the validity of the theory by experiment. Finally certain images are processed. Both the theory and the experiment show that the new method is effective.

Abstract: The interaction processes of elastic, thermal, electric, magnetic, and optical fields in crystals are represented schematically by a pyramid-shaped interaction drawing. The macroscopic physical properties of crystals subjected to these fields are classified in five groups and a comprehensive thermodynamic treatment is presented based on the use of Gibbs free energy. The method is useful in analyzing nonlinear and multifunctional effects, in discussing relations between different interactions, and in the prediction of new phenomena.

TL;DR: An adaptive training process makes the real-time on-line Computer Aided Manufacturing system capable of learning the colour cluster centers and the decision boundaries so that the system's performance is quite good while it's cost remains to be inexpensive.
Abstract: A real-time on-line Computer Aided Manufacturing system was developed for the automatic silk picture-weaving of Sichuan Brocade, which is a kind of famous fine silk material produced in large quantity in Sichuan Province, China. It's two-stage recognition process could greatly reduce the pixel colour error rate. An adaptive training process makes the system capable of learning the colour cluster centers and the decision boundaries so that the system's performance is quite good while it's cost remains to be inexpensive.

TL;DR: In this article, a linear, non-recursive and efficient algorithm for simplifying set expressions satisfying some constraints is proposed, which can be well used in proposition calculus and can be used to simplify set expressions.
Abstract: This paper concerns set expressions satisfying some constraints. Although algorithms processing expressions (for every kind) have been proposed in compilers, almost all of them use stacks and recursions, and adopt complicated parsing techniques. However, the simplification of set expressions can be done easily by its special characteristics. In this paper, we propose linear, nonrecursive, and thus efficient algorithms simplifying set expressions. The method can be well used in proposition calculus.
