TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyze the behavior of a multi-storeyed building for the most efficient location of a viscoelastic damper in the structural system and evaluate the effect of the damper on the stiffness and strength of the building.
Abstract: It is essential to analyze the behavior of each and every tall structure in the perspective of structural engineering when subjected to severe ground motion or earthquake. Vibratory forces are produced due to the result of such earthquakes at the base of the structure. Oscillations are created in buildings as a result of these vibrations. Such oscillations may cause severe damage to the structure. From the ground level, the vibrations get transmitted up to the top of the building and since the structural mass which creates lateral forces on the frame, the moment resisting capacity gets diminished for that of building components such as columns, beams, etc. This paper gives an idea of the different research works executed on a multi-storey building frame by taking various parameters into account. It explains the results of a study on the seismic behavior of a tall structure (G+15) installed with a damper. From a previously conducted experiment, it has been expressed that the stiffness and the strength of the structure enhances considerably with the use of such dampers. The current work aims to analyze the behavior of a multi-storeyed building for the most efficient location of viscoelastic damper in the structural system. A standard finite element software is used to carry out the analysis. Various parameters like lateral storey drift, base shear, time period, modal shapes, etc., are being analyzed and evaluated for the damper being placed at different locations.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of different curing regimes on the strength parameters of geopolymer concrete was analyzed and it was shown that it can be an appropriate alternative to traditional cement concrete because of its lesser carbon footprint than the traditional one.
Abstract: Concrete is the world’s second most consumed material after water. The prime ingredient of conventional concrete is the cement which acts as a binder. It is a well-known fact that cement manufacturing industries are responsible for carbon dioxide emission into the atmosphere, thereby polluting the environment. With the expansion in infrastructural projects, the demand for concrete is bound to rise. This will result in more concrete production and a rise in environmental pollution. Emphasis on environmental protection has led to an effort for finding an appropriate sustainable construction material alternative to traditional cement concrete. Geopolymer concrete also known as alkali-activated concrete can be an appropriate alternative to traditional cement concrete because of its lesser carbon footprint than the traditional one. Geopolymer concrete is still in the research and developing phase with no proper guidelines and code of practice. Geopolymer concrete behaves differently in different curing conditions. This study emphasizes the effect of different curing regimes on the strength parameters of geopolymer concrete.

TL;DR: In this paper, a graphical and mathematical approach based maximum power angle determination mechanism is adopted to determine the angle made from the intersection point of open circuit voltage and short circuit current with respect to the voltage (V) axis to the point of maximum power (MPP) using the known parameters of the solar PV module.
Abstract: A novel maximum power angle (MPA) based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique is reported. In this technique, a graphical and mathematical approach based maximum power angle determination mechanism is adopted. On the I-V characteristic curve, the angle made from the intersection point of open circuit voltage (V OC ) and short circuit current (I SC ) with respect to the voltage (V) axis to the point of maximum power (MPP) is determined using the known parameters of the solar PV module. The proposed MPPT technique is able to minimize the dependency on various voltage and current sensor requirements, thereby the reduced requirement of hardware components. Due to this fact, the implementation cost of this technique is expected low and maintenance needs of such technique based MPPT system would be also minimized.

TL;DR: In this paper, a hybrid method of exploratory study was conducted to probe teacher and learner discernment of the effectiveness of prevailing content delivery modes, which revealed a statistically significant difference in teaching-learning perceptions among the faculty and students on three variables, i.e., lack of human interface, dummy presence of students, online teaching consume more resources.
Abstract: Education institutions across the country are discontinued because of a countrywide lockdown initiated by the administration to restrain the dissemination of COVID-19. To make sure the continuity of learning, many institutions (domestic, national, international) commenced a secure and healthy contactless environment for teachers and students. Therefore, it is obvious that teacher and student view is a paramount factor in the adoption and implementation of new-age virtual teaching pedagogy. It is relevant to analyze the perceptions of understanding the reasons behind the high rate of using such a virtual platform for content delivery. The students and faculties who have been using these online portals were selected and filled the questionnaire which comprises closed as well as open-ended questions. The numbers of online portals at the school and university levels have been rapidly gaining momentum for the past few months. Therefore, a hybrid method of exploratory study was conducted to probe teacher and learner discernment of the effectiveness of prevailing content delivery modes. A snowball sampling technique is applied for selecting students and faculties who enrolled and experienced Web-based learning from various Indian universities and colleges. The answers were analyzed with the help of t-test and outcomes revealed a statistically significant difference in teaching–learning perceptions among the faculty and students on three variables, i.e., lack of human interface, dummy presence of students, online teaching consume more resources.
