TL;DR: The basis of lipid metabolism in lung cancer is reviewed, potential biomarkers are suggested, and potential therapeutic agents based on bioactive compounds such as cerulenin, SCD1, ACLY inhibitors, statins, polyphenolic compounds, etc.
Abstract: Lung cancer is currently one of the most serious health issues in developed and developing countries. There are multiple available treatment options; however survival still remains very poor. Despite metabolism alteration being one of the hallmarks described in human cancer, lipid metabolism disorders are less known. They are recently becoming more important in this setting and therefore achieving a deeper knowledge might be helpful to obtain new strategies to accurate diagnosis, estimate prognosis, and develop therapeutic agents based on bioactive compounds such as cerulenin, SCD1, ACLY inhibitors, statins, polyphenolic compounds, etc. The present paper reviews the basis of lipid metabolism in lung cancer and suggests potential biomarkers. Further investigation is crucial to improve our knowledge in this area.

TL;DR: The observation of a decrease in the amplitude of the DF curve and a change in its shape and in its decay is interpreted to suggest that heat treatment provokes an inhibition of electron donation by the oxygen evolving complex.
Abstract: Simultaneous in vivo measurements of prompt fluorescence (PF), delayed fluorescence (DF) and 820-nm reflection (MR) were made to probe response of pea leaves to 40 s incubation at high temperatures (25–50°C). We interpret our observation to suggest that heat treatment provokes an inhibition of electron donation by the oxygen evolving complex. DF, in a time range from several microseconds to milliseconds, has been thought to reflect recombination, in the dark, between the reduced primary electron acceptor QA– and the oxidized donor (P680+) of photosystem II (PSII). The lower electron transport rate through PSII after 45 and 50°C incubation also changed DF induction. We observed a decrease in the amplitude of the DF curve and a change in its shape and in its decay. Acceleration of P700+ and PC+ re-reduction was induced by 45°C treatment but after 50°C its reduction was slower, indicating inhibition of photosystem I. We suggest that simultaneous PF, MR and DF might provide useful information on assessing the degree of plant tolerance to different environmental stresses.

TL;DR: In this article, numerically quasiequatorial lensing by the charged, stationary, axially symmetric Kerr-Sen dilaton-axion black hole in the strong deflection limit was studied.
Abstract: In the present work we study numerically quasiequatorial lensing by the charged, stationary, axially symmetric Kerr-Sen dilaton-axion black hole in the strong deflection limit. In this approximation we compute the magnification and the positions of the relativistic images. The most outstanding effect is that the Kerr-Sen black hole caustics drift away from the optical axis and shift in the clockwise direction with respect to the Kerr caustics. The intersections of the critical curves on the equatorial plane as a function of the black hole angular momentum are found, and it is shown that they decrease with the increase of the parameter Q{sup 2}/M. All of the lensing quantities are compared to particular cases as Schwarzschild, Kerr, and Gibbons-Maeda black holes.

TL;DR: In this article, a search for a massive particle, referred to as a Z′, decaying into a tt pair is presented, focusing on Z′ resonances that are sufficiently massive to produce highly Lorentz-boosted top quarks.
Abstract: A search is presented for a massive particle, generically referred to as a Z′, decaying into a tt pair. The search focuses on Z′ resonances that are sufficiently massive to produce highly Lorentz-boosted top quarks, which yield collimated decay products that are partially or fully merged into single jets. The analysis uses new methods to analyze jet substructure, providing suppression of the non-top multijet backgrounds. The analysis is based on a data sample of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5 fb^(−1). Upper limits in the range of 1 pb are set on the product of the production cross section and branching fraction for a topcolor Z′ modeled for several widths, as well as for a Randall-Sundrum Kaluza-Klein gluon. In addition, the result contrain any enhancement in tt production beyond expectations of the standard mode for tt invariant mass larger than 1 TeV/c^2.
