TL;DR: Dense functional theory is used to compute the effect of both electron-phonon coupling and anharmonicity on the linewidth of MgB2, obtaining excellent agreement with experiment.
Abstract: We measure phonon dispersion and linewidth in a single crystal of MgB2 along the Gamma-A, Gamma-M, and A-L directions using inelastic x-ray scattering. We use density functional theory to compute the effect of both electron-phonon coupling and anharmonicity on the linewidth, obtaining excellent agreement with experiment. Anomalous broadening of the E(2g) phonon mode is found all along Gamma-A. The dominant contribution to the linewidth is always the electron-phonon coupling.

TL;DR: The findings therefore demonstrate the feasibility of tuning the electrical properties of conjugated polymers over the largest range possible—from insulating to superconducting.
Abstract: The electrical and optical properties of conjugated polymers have received considerable attention in the context of potentially low-cost replacements for conventional metals and inorganic semiconductors. Charge transport in these organic materials has been characterized in both the doped-metallic and the semiconducting state, but superconductivity has not hitherto been observed in these polymers. Here we report a distinct metal-insulator transition and metallic levels of conductivity in a polymer field-effect transistor. The active material is solution-cast regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene), which forms relatively well ordered films owing to self-organization, and which yields a high charge carrier mobility (0.05-0.1 cm2 V(-1) s(-1)) at room temperature. At temperatures below approximately 2.35 K with sheet carrier densities exceeding 2.5 x 10(14) cm(-2), the polythiophene film becomes superconducting. The appearance of superconductivity seems to be closely related to the self-assembly properties of the polymer, as the introduction of additional disorder is found to suppress superconductivity. Our findings therefore demonstrate the feasibility of tuning the electrical properties of conjugated polymers over the largest range possible-from insulating to superconducting.

TL;DR: A model where the triplet-singlet relaxation in a double quantum dot defined by top gates in an InAs nanowire is explained by the polarization of nuclear spins enabled by the interplay between hyperfine and spin-orbit mediated relaxation is proposed.
Abstract: We investigate the triplet-singlet relaxation in a double quantum dot defined by top gates in an InAs nanowire. In the Pauli spin blockade regime, the leakage current can be mainly attributed to spin relaxation. While at weak and strong interdot coupling relaxation is dominated by two individual mechanisms, the relaxation is strongly reduced at intermediate coupling and finite magnetic field. In addition we observe a characteristic bistability of the spin-nonconserving current as a function of magnetic field. We propose a model where these features are explained by the polarization of nuclear spins enabled by the interplay between hyperfine and spin-orbit mediated relaxation.

TL;DR: In this paper, the physicochemical properties of MgO film obtained by using a precursor prepared by sol-gel technique are reported. And the results as obtained are encouraging to use MgOs as humidity sensor.
Abstract: The present paper reports the various physico-chemical properties of MgO film obtained by using a precursor prepared by sol–gel technique. The aim of this work is to produce films with nano size particles so as to employ them for sensor applications, as adsorption in such films increases many folds due to increase in surface area. Infra-red spectroscopic and thermal studies indicate the presence of solvent in the precursor, which perhaps helps in decomposition to nano-particles during the nucleation of the film. The films have been deposited on the glass rod bend in U-shape for humidity sensor. The results as obtained are encouraging to use MgO film as humidity sensor.
