TL;DR: In this paper, a composite color video signal consisting of a luminance signal and a modulated chrominance signal having its frequency band contained within the luminance spectrum band is recorded.
Abstract: In recording a composite color video signal consisting of a luminance signal and a modulated chrominance signal having its frequency band contained within the luminance signal band, a carrier is frequency modulated with the luminance signal separated from the composite signal, the modulated chrominance signal separated from the composite original is frequency converted to have a frequency band juxtaposed to the lower limit of the bandwidth of the frequency-modulated luminance signal, and the latter is combined with the thus converted chrominance signal and with a pilot signal having a still lower bandwidth to provide a combined signal which is magnetically recorded. Upon magnetic reproduction of the combined signal thus recorded, the pilot signal, frequency-modulated luminance signal and converted chrominance signal are separately extracted from the reproduced signal, amplitude variations of the pilot signal are detected to control the amplitude of the converted chrominance signal which is reconverted to substantially its original frequency band by reference to the pilot signal, and the frequency-modulated luminance signal is demodulated and combined with the reconverted modulated chrominance signal to provide the composite color video signal.

TL;DR: In this paper, a cassette-handling mechanism includes a cassette holder into which a cassette is slidably insertable while actuating devices that load first, second, and third springs.
Abstract: In an apparatus for recording and/or reproducing signals on a magnetic tape contained in a cassette, a cassette-handling mechanism includes a cassette holder into which a cassette is slidably insertable while actuating devices that load first, second and third springs. Upon the full insertion of the cassette into the holder, the first spring force is released to shift or depress the holder and the cassette therein from an elevated position to an operative position with respect to tape-driving elements and a recording and/or reproducing head. Upon actuation of an ejection control, the force of the second loaded spring is released to return the holder and the cassette therein to the elevated position of the holder, whereupon the force of the third loaded spring is automatically released to slidably propel the cassette substantially out of the holder.

TL;DR: In this paper, the luminance signal component and the line sequential chrominance signal are modulated on separate carriers having relatively high and low carrier frequencies, respectively, to form two independent modulated carriers which are mixed or combined to constitute a single channel composite signal recorded by the one head.
Abstract: A standard color television signal which has a luminance signal component and at least two chrominance signal components is recorded with one head on a magnetic tape or other medium. The chominance signal components are combined alternately into a line sequential chrominance signal, and the luminance signal component and line sequential chrominance signal are modulated on separate carriers having relatively high and low carrier frequencies, respectively, to form two independent modulated carriers which are mixed or combined to constitute a single channel composite signal recorded by the one head and in which the carrier modulated with the line sequential chrominance signal has an amplitude of from one-fifth to one-third the amplitude of the carrier modulated with the luminance signal component. During reproduction, the reproduced composite signal is separated into the luminance signal component and the line sequential chrominance signal, and the latter is separated into the two chrominance signal components with the aid of a delay line.

TL;DR: In this paper, the second harmonic of the carrier of the frequency-converted chrominance signal with the luminance signal is interleaved to avoid the beat interference between the two signals.
Abstract: A composite color video signal may be magnetically recorded by separating the luminance and chrominance signals, and frequency modulating the former on a carrier, and frequency shifting the latter such that the bands of the frequency-modulated luminance signal and the frequency-converted chrominance signal are substantially not overlapping. The two signals are then combined and magnetically recorded with the frequency-converted chrominance signal added to the frequency-modulated luminance signal. To avoid a beat interference between the second harmonic of the carrier of the frequency-converted chrominance signal and the luminance signal, the system is designed to interleave the second harmonic of the carrier of the frequency-converted chrominance signal with the luminance signal. By avoiding the beat interference the amplitude of the frequency-converted chrominance signal relative to the amplitude of the frequency-modulated luminance signal can be made large with resulting good signal-to-noise ratio of the chrominance signal.
