TL;DR: In this paper, a base station establishes an extent to which one or more base stations in the wireless telecommunications system support the power boost operating mode conveys an indication of this to a terminal device.
Abstract: A wireless telecommunication system comprises base stations for communicating with terminal devices. One or more base stations support a power boost operating mode in which a base station's available transmission power is concentrated in a subset of its available transmission resources to provide enhanced transmission powers as compared to transmission powers on these transmission resources when the base station is not operating in the power boost mode. A base station establishes an extent to which one or more base stations in the wireless telecommunications system support the power boost operating mode conveys an indication of this to a terminal device. The terminal device receives the indication and uses the corresponding information to control its acquisition of a base station of the wireless telecommunication system, for example by taking account of which base stations support power boosting and/or when power boosting is supported during a cell attach procedure.

TL;DR: In this article, a group-wise deinterleaving technique was proposed to ensure good communication quality when using an LDPC code to transmit data, which can be applied to data transmission or the like.
Abstract: This technology pertains to a data-processing device and a data processing method that make it possible to ensure good communication quality when using an LDPC code to transmit data. In group-wise interleaving, an LDPC code having a code length (N) of 16,200 bits and a code rate (r) of 10/15 or 12/15 is interleaved on a per-bit-group basis, each bit group being 360 bits long. In group-wise deinterleaving, the interleaved LDPC code is restored to the original ordering thereof. This technology can be applied, for example, to data transmission or the like using an LDPC code.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose an automatic switching of shutter glasses modes when receiving and carrying out image display of a multiplexed stream wherein a first video stream wherein two-dimensional image data is inserted and a second video stream where three-dimensional information is inserted are included in a time-division manner.
Abstract: [Problem] To allow appropriately carrying out automatic switching of shutter glasses modes when receiving and carrying out image display of a multiplexed stream wherein a first video stream wherein two-dimensional image data is inserted and a second video stream wherein three-dimensional image data is inserted are included in a time-division manner. [Solution] First-out information which is acquired from a transport stream is inserted on the transmission side with a margin of a time (T) for a timing of switching between the first video stream and the second video stream. A shutter mode switch command is transmitted from a shutter control unit to the shutter glasses on the basis of the first-out information and at a timing prior to a shutter mode switch timing. On the basis of the shutter mode switch command, the shutter mode is switched in the shutter glasses at the timing of a switch from a three-dimensional image display to a two-dimensional image display.

TL;DR: The out-of-body view is developed, in which first-person images are integrated to construct a scene around a Body, and a Ghost can virtually control the viewpoint to look around the space surrounding the Body.
Abstract: JackIn is a new human-human communication framework for connecting two or more people. With first-person view video streaming from a person (called Body) wearing a transparent head-mounted display and a head-mounted camera, the other person (called Ghost) participates in the shared first-person view. With JackIn, people's activities can be shared and assistance or guidance can be given through other peoples expertise. This can be applied to daily activities such as cooking lessons, shopping navigation, education in craft-work or electrical work, and sharing experiences of sporting and live events. For a better viewing experience with frist-person view, we developed the out-of-body view in which first-person images are integrated to construct a scene around a Body, and a Ghost can virtually control the viewpoint to look around the space surrounding the Body. We also developed a tele-pointing gesture interface. We conducted an experiment to evaluate how effective this framework is and found that Ghosts can understand the spatial situation of the Body.

TL;DR: Both simulations and experiments show that the proposed techniques for sampling, representing, and reconstructing the space-time volume to overcome this trade-off to reconstruct a video from a single coded image while maintaining high spatial resolution.
Abstract: Cameras face a fundamental trade-off between spatial and temporal resolution. Digital still cameras can capture images with high spatial resolution, but most high-speed video cameras have relatively low spatial resolution. It is hard to overcome this trade-off without incurring a significant increase in hardware costs. In this paper, we propose techniques for sampling, representing, and reconstructing the space-time volume to overcome this trade-off. Our approach has two important distinctions compared to previous works: 1) We achieve sparse representation of videos by learning an overcomplete dictionary on video patches, and 2) we adhere to practical hardware constraints on sampling schemes imposed by architectures of current image sensors, which means that our sampling function can be implemented on CMOS image sensors with modified control units in the future. We evaluate components of our approach, sampling function and sparse representation, by comparing them to several existing approaches. We also implement a prototype imaging system with pixel-wise coded exposure control using a liquid crystal on silicon device. System characteristics such as field of view and modulation transfer function are evaluated for our imaging system. Both simulations and experiments on a wide range of scenes show that our method can effectively reconstruct a video from a single coded image while maintaining high spatial resolution.

Abstract: The objective of the invention is to well transmit moving image data of a high frame rate. First moving image data of a predetermined frame rate are processed in unit of N consecutive pictures (where N is an integer equal to or greater than two). The image data obtained by subjecting the image data of the N pictures to an averaging process is regarded as the image data of the first picture, and the image data of the second to Nth pictures of the N pictures are regarded as the image data of the second to Nth pictures as they are, with the result that second moving image data of the predetermined frame rate are obtained. The image data of the pictures constituting the second moving image data are encoded to generate a video stream, which is then transmitted.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which displays images which variably change and an image and sound generation method which generates the image and/or sound which variably change. SOLUTION: An image generation part 13 inputs numeric values and outputs the images. The image generation part 13 outputs different images according to variation of the numeric values. The numeric values to be inputted are biological information measured by a biological sensor 10 and environmental information measured by an environmental sensor 12. Since the biological information and the environmental information are indefinite values of which the variation cannot be predicted, the images to be outputted variably change. A display part 14 display the images generated by the image generation part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
