TL;DR: In this paper, a thin film transistor structure for a liquid crystal display device of the active matrix type, wherein leak current is suppressed to stabilize the threshold voltage and the dispersion in the gate capacitance coupling and the channel length are minimized, is disclosed.
Abstract: A thin film transistor structure for a liquid crystal display device of the active matrix type, wherein leak current is suppressed to stabilize the threshold voltage and the dispersion in the gate capacitance coupling and the channel length are minimized, is disclosed. The liquid crystal display device comprises a substrate having picture element electrodes arranged in a matrix and switching elements for driving the picture element electrodes, another substrate having opposing electrodes thereon and opposed to the former substrate, and a liquid crystal layer held between the substrates. Each switching element has a multi-gate structure wherein two thin film transistors are connected in series and gate electrodes are electrically connected to each other. Each thin film transistor has a lightly doped drain structure wherein a low density impurity region of the same conductivity type as that of a source region or a drain region is provided at least between the source or drain region and a channel region. At least one of a plurality of such low density impurity regions may have a length or a density different from that of the other low density impurity regions so as to assure sufficient on-current while suppressing the leak current.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method to prevent mismatch errors by preprocessing the set of transform coefficients prior to the inverse othogonal transform (15), which prevents mismatch errors in the MPEG-standard compressor for a motion picture signal.
Abstract: Mismatch error occur in the local decoder of a MPEG-standard compressor for a motion picture signal, and in an MPEG-standard expander for a compressed motion picture signal. This is because of the lack of a standard for rounding results of *.5 (* is an integer) obtained when a set of transform coefficients resulting from compressing the motion picture signal is inversely orthogonally transformed. The invention prevents mismatch errors by preprocessing the set of transform coefficients prior to the inverse othogonal transform (15). The transform coefficients in the set are summed (23A) and the parity (odd or even) of the sum is judged (21). When the parity of the sum is judged to be even, the parity of one of the transform coefficients in the set is inverted (28) to provide a parity-inverted transform coefficient. This makes the parity of the sum odd. Then, when the set of transform coefficients indluding the parity-inverted transform coefficient is inversely orthogonally transformed (15), none of the results of the orthogonal transform will have a value of *.5.

TL;DR: In this article, a back side light reception type pixel structure is adopted in which a wiring layer is provided on one side of a silicon layer including photo-diodes formed therein, and visible light is taken in from the other side of the silicon layer, namely, from the side (back side) opposite to the wiring layer.
Abstract: In an X-Y address type solid state image pickup device represented by a CMOS image sensor, a back side light reception type pixel structure is adopted in which a wiring layer is provided on one side of a silicon layer including photo-diodes formed therein, and visible light is taken in from the other side of the silicon layer, namely, from the side (back side) opposite to the wiring layer. Wiring can be made without taking a light-receiving surface into account, and the degree of freedom in wiring for the pixels is enhanced.

TL;DR: In this article, a GOP is constituted from pictures of 15 frames, of which I-picture and P-picture are collectively treated as pictures for high speed reproduction and are arranged forwardly of the remaining pictures which are B-pictures.
Abstract: A picture signal coding method and decoding method and a picture signal recording medium (10) by which a picture is prevented from being interrupted upon high speed reproduction are disclosed. A GOP is constituted from pictures of 15 frames. Of those pictures, an I-picture and P-pictures are collectively treated as pictures for high speed reproduction and are arranged forwardly of the remaining pictures which are B-pictures. Upon high speed reproduction, only the pictures for high speed reproduction are reproduced.

TL;DR: In this paper, a linear actuator is used to move a movable section in an optical axis direction by supplying a current to the drive coil, and a pair of biasing blade springs are formed with two spring members through which the current is supplied.
Abstract: A lens unit includes: a lens barrel; a movable section including a movable lens and configured to be moved in an optical axis direction relative to the lens barrel; a linear actuator including a drive magnet and a drive coil and configured to move the movable section in the optical axis direction by supplying a current to the drive coil; and a pair of biasing blade springs including holding portions for holding the movable section, a plurality of spring portions biasing the movable section in the optical axis direction, and attachment portions to be attached to the lens barrel. One of the biasing blade springs is formed with two spring members through which the current is supplied to the drive coil.
