30 Sep 2013TL;DR: In this paper, an image processing device and a method that make it possible to suppress block noise is presented, which can be applied to an image processor and can be used to suppress noise in a filter process determination unit.
Abstract: The present disclosure pertains to an image-processing device and method that make it possible to suppress block noise. A βLUT_input calculator and a clip processor determine βLUT_input, which is a value inputted to an existing-β generator and an expanded-β generator. When the value of βLUT_input qp from the clip processor is 51 or less, the existing-β generator determines β using a LUT conforming to the HVEC standard, and supplies same to a filter process determination unit. When the value of βLUT_input qp from the clip processor is larger than 51, the expanded-β generator determines the expanded β and supplies same to the filter process determination part. This disclosure, for example, can be applied to an image processing device.

04 Jan 1995TL;DR: In this paper, an on-line program list is provided to provide the user of a multiple channel television broadcast system a wealth of programming information in a simple format that is easy to understand.
Abstract: An innovative but easy to use on-line program list is provided to provide the user of a multiple channel television broadcast system a wealth of programming information in a simple format that is easy to understand. The guide enables the user to easily select a particular program to watch or to watch in the future. Unlike prior art television guides, the present invention presents a program list that is oriented according to the program instead of the channel. In particular, the program list provides program information and the times the program is broadcasted the displayed timeframe. This is particularly useful for viewing in one simple and easy-to-read format the start times of a pay-per-view program, which may, for example, be broadcasted every 1/2 hour over a variety of channels.

01 Jan 2002TL;DR: The Continuator as discussed by the authors is based on a Markov model of musical styles augmented to account for musical issues such as management of rhythm, beat, harmony, and imprecision, and it can learn and generate music in any style, either in standalone mode, as continuations of musician's input, or as interactive improvisation back up.
Abstract: We propose a system, the Continuator, that bridges the gap between two classes of traditionally incompatible musical systems: (1) interactive musical systems, limited in their ability to generate stylistically consistent material, and (2) music imitation systems, which are fundamentally not interactive Our purpose is to allow musicians to extend their technical ability with stylistically consistent, automatically learnt material This goal requires the ability for the system to build operational representations of musical styles in a real time context Our approach is based on a Markov model of musical styles augmented to account for musical issues such as management of rhythm, beat, harmony, and imprecision The resulting system is able to learn and generate music in any style, either in standalone mode, as continuations of musician’s input, or as interactive improvisation back up Lastly, the very design of the system makes possible new modes of musical collaborative playing We describe the architectu

23 May 2002TL;DR: An optical device for barcode reading capable of improving the degree of freedom in design of component lenses so as to allow free positional adjustment of the lenses while ensuring downsizing and weight reduction of the device, and a method for manufacturing are disclosed as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: An optical device for bar-code reading capable of improving the degree of freedom in design of component lenses so as to allow free positional adjustment of the lenses while ensuring downsizing and weight reduction of the device, and a method for manufacturing are disclosed. An optical device for bar-code reading comprises a light emitting element; a light projection lens for focusing light from the light emitting element so as to irradiate a bar code; a light receiving lens for focusing reflected light from the bar code and having formed therein a penetrating hole which penetrates a plane of incidence of light and a plane of outgoing of light, in which the light projection lens is inserted; and a light receiving element for receiving the light focused by the light receiving lens so as to perform photo-electric conversion.

28 Mar 2005TL;DR: In this article, a virtual image display device with an optical waveguide to guide, by internal total reflection, parallel pencil groups meeting a condition of internal total reflections was presented. But the authors did not specify the conditions of the external reflection.
Abstract: A virtual image display device with an optical waveguide to guide, by internal total reflection, parallel pencil groups meeting a condition of internal total reflection, a first reflection volume hologram grating to diffract and reflect the parallel pencil groups incident upon the optical waveguide from outside and traveling in different directions as they are so as to meet the condition of internal total reflection inside the optical waveguide and a second reflection volume hologram grating to project the parallel pencil groups guided by internal total reflection inside the optical waveguide as they are from the optical waveguide by diffraction and reflection thereof so as to depart from the condition of internal total reflection inside the optical waveguide.
