31 Mar 1999TL;DR: In this article, a jog dial can be rotated to cause the previewed channels to rotate along the arc, thus the user can cycle through available channels or a subset of channels by merely holding the jog dial in a given position.
Abstract: Information corresponding to previewed channels is displayed using a sequential arrangement having a main channel location and several remaining channel locations. A currently previewed channel resides in the main channel location. The channels move along the sequential arrangement and into the main channel location for previewing. An arc shaped arrangement having the main channel location at an intermediate point allows channels to progress from one side of the arc, then into the main channel location for previewing, then to the other side of the arc. A jog dial can be rotated to cause the previewed channels to rotate along the arc. Thus, the user can cycle through available channels or a subset of channels by merely holding the jog dial in a given position.

16 Apr 1990TL;DR: In this article, a rotatable record medium driven at a constant linear velocity is used to record image data in successive turns on a record medium by converting a first successive image frames of image data to an intraframe code signal, converting the next-following frames to (n-1) interframe code signals, and recording the intraframe and interframe codes on the record medium.
Abstract: Image data is recorded in successive turns on a rotatable record medium driven at substantially constant linear velocity by converting a first of successive image frames of image data to an intraframe code signal, converting the (n-1) next-following frames to (n-1) interframe code signals, and recording the intraframe and (n-1 ) interframe code signals on the record medium. In one embodiment, n is the maximum number of image frames that can be recorded in the innermost turn of the record medium and n is constant for all turns, whereby the same number (n--1 ) of interframe code signals separate successive intraframe code signals from turn to turn. In another embodiment, n is a variable and increases as the radius of the turn in which the code signals are recorded increases, whereby a larger number (n-1) of interframe code signals separate successive intraframe code signals as the turn radius increases. The recorded image data is recovered by reproducing the recorded intraframe and interframe code signals and selectively coupling the reproduced code signals to an intraframe decoder or to an interframe decoder as a function of whether intraframe or interframe code signals are reproduced.

10 Sep 1998TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a method and system for defining and discovering proxy functionality on a distributed audio video network, which operates within a network of consumer electronic media devices (e.g., television, set-top box, video cassette recorder, compact disc device, personal computer system, etc.) coupled together using the IEEE 1394 serial communication standard.
Abstract: A method and system for defining and discovering proxy functionality on a distributed audio video network. The present invention operates within a network of consumer electronic media devices (e.g., television, set-top-box, video cassette recorder, compact disc device, personal computer system, etc.) that are coupled together using the IEEE 1394 serial communication standard. Specifically, the present invention enables a consumer electronic media device having increased functionality to act as a proxy device for other consumer electronic media devices. As such, the proxy device is able to provide a wide variety of advantageous proxy services for other consumer electronic media devices thereby increasing their original capabilities. For instance, the proxy device can act as a translator between two devices thereby enabling them to communicate. Additionally, the proxy device can enable Home Audio Video Interoperability (HAVi) devices to have greater control over non-HAVi devices. Moreover, the proxy device can extend the existing functionality of devices as well as provide new functionality for them. Furthermore, the proxy device can act as a command arbitrator for particular devices. Also, the proxy device can act as a proxy for all or a portion of the functionality of a device. It is appreciated that these are only examples of the possible advantageous proxy services that the proxy device can provide for other devices in accordance with the present invention.

12 Jul 2001TL;DR: In this article, a system and method to support electronic gaming in an electronic network includes an event server that provides restricted access to various types of game services, and one or more system users may utilize corresponding wireless portable user devices for connecting to the event server to gain access to the game services as game participants.
Abstract: A system and method to support electronic gaming in an electronic network includes an event server that provides restricted access to various types of game services. One or more system users may utilize corresponding wireless portable user devices for connecting to the event server to thereby gain access to the foregoing game services as game participants. The system users may thereby utilize the user devices to access the event server for accessing appropriate gaming services and related information. In addition, a source system user may utilize a source user device to perform a transfer procedure for transferring ownership rights of an electronic certificate related to the electronic gaming to a target system user through a target user device. The foregoing transfer procedure may be conducted through the event server, or may occur directly from the source user device to the target user device.

08 Nov 2006TL;DR: In this paper, a signal processing apparatus is proposed to correct color mixture between pixel cells in a solid-state imaging device in which pixel cells including photoelectric transducers are two-dimensional arranged in an array and in which color filters having primary color components for generating luminance components and other color components are arranged over the pixel cells.
Abstract: A signal processing apparatus corrects color mixture between pixel cells in a solid-state imaging device in which the pixel cells including photoelectric transducers are two-dimensionally arranged in an array and in which color filters having primary color components for generating luminance components and other color components are arranged over the pixel cells. The signal processing apparatus includes correction processing means for performing the correction to the signal from a target pixel by using the signals from multiple neighboring pixels adjacent to the target pixel in the solid-state imaging device and correction parameters independently set for the signals.
