29 Dec 2010TL;DR: In this paper, a first communications device applies beamforming to a complete transmission packet including both synchronization data and either payload data or training symbols, and a second communications device evaluates the beamformed synchronization data.
Abstract: In a MIMO communications system a first communications device applies beamforming to a complete transmission packet including both synchronization data and either payload data or training symbols. A second communications device evaluates the beamformed synchronization data and determines and transmits a feedback information indicating minimum required synchronization data and/or a minimum number of training symbols. The first communications device tailors the synchronization data and/or number of training symbols on the basis of the feedback information. Beamforming the complete transmission packet facilitates signal suppression at defined locations. When the channel properties change, the second communications device may provide further channel state information to adapt beamforming in the first communications device without transmission of not beamformed training symbols. The communications system may be a powerline telecommunications system.

05 Jun 2006TL;DR: In this paper, a three-dimensional object display apparatus includes a 3D object generation section that generates a threedimensional object by laying out a plurality of image data to surfaces of a solid, and a control section that switches, in response to the manner selected by the user, the 3D shape of the object.
Abstract: A three-dimensional object display apparatus includes a three-dimensional object generation section that generates a three-dimensional object by laying out a plurality of image data to surfaces of a solid. The three-dimensional object is made in a three-dimensional shape to be displayed on a display section. The three-dimensional object display apparatus also includes a selection operation section that enables a user to select a manner of presenting the plurality of image data to the user on the display section. The three-dimensional object display apparatus further includes a control section that switches, in response to the manner selected by the user, the three-dimensional shape of the three-dimensional object.

18 Oct 1995TL;DR: In this paper, the disks to be dispensed by the vending unit are provided to have a region of magnetic recording media formed on one surface, and the dispensing unit may be equipped to write information relevant to the transaction onto the magnetic media.
Abstract: A vending apparatus and system for storing and automatically dispensing magnetic or optical disks. A user interface means allows a user to enter a dispensing request corresponding to the selection of a desired disk and includes means for receiving user identification information, such as credit or debit card information, or other information stored magnetically on a bank card, driver's license, school identification card, or library card. Once a disk selection has been entered and user identification information received and verified, the selected disk is dispensed from the vending unit. The disks to be dispensed by the vending unit may be provided to have a region of magnetic recording media formed on one surface, and the vending unit may be equipped to write information relevant to the transaction onto the region of magnetic media.

24 Dec 1996TL;DR: A tracking apparatus for tracking an imaging object includes: imaging means for imaging the object, driving means for driving the imaging means to perform panning and tilting, position detection means for detecting a position of the imaging object in an image outputted from the imaging mean, and reference position setting means for setting the reference position.
Abstract: A tracking apparatus for tracking an imaging object, includes: imaging means for imaging the imaging object; driving means for driving the imaging means to perform panning and tilting; position detection means for detecting a position of the imaging object in an image outputted from the imaging means; automatic tracking means for calculating a displacement amount between the position of the imaging object detected by the position detection means and a reference position in the image outputted from the imaging means and controlling the driving means based on the displacement amount so that the position of the imaging object may coincide with the reference position to automatically track the imaging object; and reference position setting means for setting the reference position.
