27 Jul 1995TL;DR: In this article, a simple control region (simple U-TOC) was proposed for audio and general data mixed together in a recording medium, where editing of complicated control regions does not have to be carried out and a memory region is not necessary as a working region.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a recording medium (1) recorded with audio data and general data (including image data for computers and character data) mixed together, provided with data for each control region, where by providing a special simple control region (simple U-TOC), editing of complicated control regions (P-TOC, U-TOC) does not have to be carried out and a memory region is not necessary as a working region for editing. The present invention also provides a playback device where playback can be achieved without mixing the simple control region (simple U-TOC) with the control region (U-TOC) for the audio and general data and, by also recording copy-protection information at the simple control region, a playback operation from a recording medium (1) which has been copied illegally will not be possible. The present invention further relates to a recording device a recording device for updating each control region while data updating is being carried out at the recording medium.

27 Aug 1999TL;DR: In this paper, a method and apparatus for recording video data by receiving unrecorded video data from a subject and detecting the skin tone detail of the subject, or if the subject is an inanimate object, any characteristic color thereof, was presented.
Abstract: A method and apparatus (100) for recording video data by receiving unrecorded video data from a subject (110) and detecting (140) the skin tone detail of the subject, or if the subject is an inanimate object, any characteristic color thereof. The video information corresponding to the detected skin tone detail is manipulated, and then the video data, including the manipulated video data, is recorded (170) so as to obscure the video image corresponding to the detected skin tone detail.
