TL;DR: In this paper, a tuning frequency arrangement storing unit determines the channels that are frequently watched by a user on the basis of the calculation and stores indications of the channels, which are read out in ranked order to perform a tuning operation in response to successive actuation of a preferred-station key.
Abstract: A TV receiver has a tuner and a controller for controlling a tuning operation of the tuner. The controller includes a calculation unit for effecting a calculation of preferred stations using as parameters tuned channels and the times for which the channels are selected. A tuning frequency arrangement storing unit determines the channels that are frequently watched by a user on the basis of the calculation and stores indications of the channels. The channel indications thus stored are read out in ranked order to perform a tuning operation in response to successive actuation of a preferred-station key.

TL;DR: In this article, a battery pack has a charge and discharge count measuring part ( 131 ) configured to measure the number of times of charges and discharges of a secondary battery based on the summed value of the charge current for the secondary battery.
Abstract: A battery pack has a charge and discharge count measuring part ( 131 ) configured to measure the number of times of charges and discharges of a secondary battery based on the summed value of the charge current for the secondary battery, and a decay rate output part ( 132 ) configured to compute a decay rate that indicates a degree of decay of the secondary battery based on the number of times of charges and discharges measured by the charge and discharge count measuring part ( 131 ) and to output it to a device being a discharge load. For example, the charge and discharge count measuring part ( 131 ) repeatedly sums the detected values of the charge current to a predetermined threshold, and counts up the number of times of charges and discharges every time when the summed value reaches the threshold. Accordingly, even though charges and discharges are repeated at finer steps in a relatively narrow voltage range, the number of times of charges and discharges can be counted accurately, and the computing accuracy of the decay rate is improved. In the battery pack in which the secondary battery is accommodated, parameters for detecting the remaining amount of the battery are detected more accurately.

TL;DR: In this article, a post production offline editing system including a processor programmed to display an initial menu prompting a user to select a multiple camera editing mode (in which the user selects edits while simultaneously viewing scenes from two or more sources), a single camera editingmode, a display edit information mode, or a scene take management mode.
Abstract: A post production offline editing system including a processor programmed to display an initial menu prompting a user to select a multiple camera editing mode (in which the user selects edits while simultaneously viewing scenes from two or more sources), a single camera editing mode, a display edit information mode, or a scene take management mode. Preferably in the single camera edit mode, the user may select a splice (or transition) between two edits by selecting a sequence of items from sequentially displayed transition menus. For example, a first pulldown transition menu prompts the user to select a general transition type such as a "dissolve" or "wipe," and a second pulldown transition menu then prompts the user to select one of several versions of the selected general transition type. In the multiple camera editing mode, the user may select either a set-up mode or an execute mode. In the edit list management mode, the user may select a variety of modes, including a rehearse mode, a list management mode, and a reformat mode. In the display edit information mode, the invention preferably displays a partial edit list and a highlight icon, respectively, in first and second areas of a monitor screen. When a user selects a region of the highlight icon corresponding to a selected edit, the system highlights the selected edit from the displayed list and displays information about the selected edit in a third area of the monitor screen.

TL;DR: In this article, a reproducing apparatus for a disc-shaped recording medium having digital audio signals recorded in a compressed form includes an optical head, a spindle motor, a servo control unit, a decoder, a memory and a controller.
Abstract: A reproducing apparatus for a disc-shaped recording medium having digital audio signals recorded in a compressed form includes an optical head, a spindle motor, a servo control unit, a decoder, a memory and a controller. The optical head radiates a light beam on the disc-shaped recording medium for reading out data recorded on the disc-shaped recording medium. The spindle motor rotationally drives the disc-shaped recording medium at a constant linear velocity. The servo control unit servo-controls the optical head and the spindle motor based upon error signals generated on the basis of output signal of the optical head. The decoder decodes output signals of the optical head. The memory transiently stores output data of the decoder and the data stored in the memory is read out at a readout rate slower than the write rate of the data outputted from the decoder. The controller controls the optical head and the memory so that, by alternately setting a first period during which data recorded on the disc-shaped recording medium is read out by the optical head and written in the memory and a second period during which readout of data recorded on the disc-shaped recording medium by the optical head is discontinued and only readout of the data stored in the memory is made, the data recorded on the disc-shaped recording medium is read out intermittently. The controller discontinues the operation of the servo control unit during the second period.
