TL;DR: In this article, a cursor is shifted in the left and right directions to select a desired category, when an instruction is given to shift the cursor in the upward and downward directions, the still pictures of the selected category are scrolled.
Abstract: A desired program is selected speedily and reliably from a plurality of programs. Reduced-sized still pictures of typical frames of programs to be broadcast on the respective channels are divided by program category and displayed as an electronic program guide. A cursor is shifted in the left and right directions to select a desired category. When an instruction is given to shift the cursor in the upward and downward directions, the still pictures of the selected category are scrolled. When the picture is determined by a selecting operation, its program is received.

TL;DR: The panel will discuss the commercial and consumer aspects of the television systems and project the timing of the introduction of various digital video processing functions.
Abstract: In video processing, a motion compensated process and an equivalent linear process are performed on an input signal, the processing errors of which are computed and compared. The comparison is then used to control a mix between the outputs of the two processes to produce an output signal.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide systems and methods for implementing and controlling local power line communication (PLC) networks, including a central controller communicationally coupled with a PLC power line, a sensor adaptor coupled between the PLC and a consumer product, with the adaptor comprising a current detector that detects a current usage level passed through the sensor adaptive adaptor, and an adaptor switch that interrupts current flow to the consumer product in response to a command received over the power line from the central controller when the current usage has a predetermined relationship to a first threshold.
Abstract: The present embodiments provide systems and methods for implementing and controlling local power line communication (PLC) networks. Some embodiments include a central controller communicationally coupled with a PLC power line, a sensor adaptor coupled between the PLC power line and a consumer product, with the sensor adaptor comprising a current detector that detects a current usage level passed through the sensor adaptor, a PLC interface through which the current usage level is communicated over the PLC power line to the central controller, and an adaptor switch that interrupts current flow to the consumer product in response to a command received over the PLC power line from the central controller when the current usage through the sensor adaptor has a predetermined relationship to a first threshold.

TL;DR: This paper introduces AIBO, the first product model of Robot Entertainment Systems, and suggests how to maximize the complexity of responses and movements to solve the problem of substantially increasing the lifelike appearance of autonomous robots.
Abstract: The twenty first century will become an era of autonomous robots which are partners of human beings Autonmous robot will help and support people in the future In this paper we introduce AIBO, the first product model of Robot Entertainment Systems The main application of this robot is a pet-style robot, which must be in lifelike appearances We suggest the introduction of how to maximize the complexity of responses and movements, to solve the problem of maximizing the lifelike appearances of autonomous robots We also describe the technologies used in AIBO as well Although AIBO is not for nursing nor dengerous work, neither, we believe the development of AIBO to be the fist step of the era of autonomous robots in the twenty first cen-tury

TL;DR: In this paper, continuous-wave operation in wide-gap II-VI semiconductor current injection laser diodes at room temperature has been demonstrated for the first time, at a wavelength of 523.5 nm with a threshold current of 45 mA (1.4 kA/cm2).
Abstract: Continuous-wave operation in wide-gap II-VI semiconductor current injection laser diodes at room temperature has been demonstrated for the first time. Stimulated emission was observed at a wavelength of 523.5 nm with a threshold current of 45 mA (1.4 kA/cm2) from ZnCdSe/ZnSe/ZnMgSSe single-quantum-well (SQW) separate-confinement heterostructure (SCH) laser diodes.
