TL;DR: A fast and robust approach to the detection and tracking of moving objects based on using lines computed by a gradient-based optical flow and an edge detector and each tracked object has a state for handling occlusion and interference.
Abstract: We propose a fast and robust approach to the detection and tracking of moving objects. Our method is based on using lines computed by a gradient-based optical flow and an edge detector. While it is known among researchers that gradient-based optical flow and edges are well matched for accurate computation of velocity, not much attention is paid to creating systems for detecting and tracking objects using this feature. In our method, extracted edges by using optical flow and the edge detector are restored as lines, and background lines of the previous frame are subtracted. Contours of objects are obtained by using snakes to clustered lines. Detected objects are tracked, and each tracked object has a state for handling occlusion and interference. The experimental results on outdoor-scenes show fast and robust performance of our method. The computation time of our method is 0.089 s/frame on a 900 MHz processor.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system is provided to distribute electronic information contents D0 containing advertisement to a user, and process advertisement information D2 at the user side, where the user can see and hear an advertisement video image or audio freely processed with respect to an advertisement by information processing apparatuses 8 in unreal time (asynchronously) like playing a game.
Abstract: A system is provided to distribute electronic information contents D0 containing advertisement to a user, and process advertisement information D2 at the user side. This system comprises an information distribution apparatus 19 for distributing advertisement information D2 to the user; and a plurality of information processing apparatuses 8 for receiving and storing the electronic information contents D0 distributed from the information distribution apparatus 19, reading out the electronic information contents D0 according to the user operation, and processing the electronic information contents D2, thereby outputting the advertisement video image and its audio. With this configuration, after receipt of advertisement information, the user can see and hear an advertisement video image or audio freely processed with respect to an advertisement by the information processing apparatuses 8 in unreal time (asynchronously) like playing a game. In this manner, there can be constructed a electronic advertisement medium which reverses a concept of an advertisement of big four mass media, the advertisement having been supplied one-sidedly conventionally, and which performs an advertisement interactively.

TL;DR: In this article, a method and apparatus for providing a calendar-based on-screen planner in an electronic program guide for broadcast events are provided, wherein at least one program guide is generated and displayed representing programming on a number of channels.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a calendar-based on-screen planner in an electronic program guide for broadcast events are provided, wherein at least one electronic program guide is generated and displayed representing programming on a number of channels. A first on-screen planner is generated comprising at least one monthly calendar view. The first on-screen planner, which may be accessed from the electronic program guide, provides for a review of selected broadcast activity for a number of days of a selected month. The selected broadcast activity is selected from a group comprising broadcasts selected for automatic tuning, broadcasts selected for recording, and pay-per-view broadcasts selected for purchase. A second on-screen planner is generated comprising at least one daily calendar view. The second on-screen planner, which may be accessed from the first on-screen planner, provides for review and editing of the selected broadcast activity for at least one day of the selected month. The electronic program guide and the on-screen planners are displayed on the screen in response to a user selection.

TL;DR: In this article, a semiconductor memory cell is cut with a first imaginary perpendicular plane which is perpendicular to the extending direction of the gate region and passes through the center of gate region.
Abstract: A semiconductor memory cell comprising a first transistor for readout, a second transistor for switching, and having a first region, a second region formed in a surface region of the first region, a third region formed in a surface region of the second region, a fourth region formed in a surface region of the first region and spaced from the second region, a fifth region formed in a surface region of the fourth region, and a gate region, wherein when the semiconductor memory cell is cut with a first imaginary perpendicular plane which is perpendicular to the extending direction of the gate region and passes through the center of the gate region, the second region and the fourth region in the vicinity of the gate region are nearly symmetrical with respect to a second imaginary perpendicular plane which is in parallel with the extending direction of the gate region and passes through the center of the gate region.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed to provide each communication station with a transmission prioritised period without any useless latency in an ad-hoc communication environment including no control station, where the beacon signal is periodically transmitted and acquired by the communication station immediately after transmission of the beacon.
Abstract: The present invention is to provide each communication station with a transmission prioritised period without any useless latency in an ad-hoc communication environment including no control station. For this end, each communication station periodically transmits the beacon signal and acquires the transmission prioritised period immediately after transmission of the beacon. If the number of communication stations in the network is small, a communication station transmit a supplementary beacon within the super frame period, thereby effectively shortening the beacon interval and reducing latency at the start of transmission. At the time when a new communication station enters the network, the supplementary beacon is released in order to accommodate such new communication station.
