30 Dec 1994TL;DR: In this paper, the P-code module within the processor unit of the cellular phone was proposed to reduce the technical requirements for programming a cellular phone purchased at the retail level such that a user can perform the necessary programming for activating the cellular telephone on a local telephone network.
Abstract: A module (P-code module) provides parameter information to a Number Assignment Module (NAM) in a cellular phone unit by processing a simple programming code (P-code) entered by the user through a telephone keypad. The P-code employs a flexible length telephone keypad coding that can be translated into programmable parameters of cellular phone products. Field identification numbers and look-up tables are used to shorten the P-code length for more frequently used information. To activate a cellular phone, the user provides product and serial number information to a dial-up access center which then generates a scrambled P-code for entry by the user. The P-code module within the processor unit of the cellular phone likewise descrambles, decompresses, and performs an integrity check on the sequence of digits being entered by the user. This P-code module reduces the technical requirements for programming a cellular phone purchased at the retail level such that a user can perform the necessary programming for activating the cellular telephone on a local telephone network. A security arrangement randomly generates two passwords when the cellular telephone is activated to prevent unauthorized reprogramming of the phones for use on other cellular telephone networks.

08 Jan 1997TL;DR: In this paper, a data transmitter encodes input data and maps this data in accordance with a Trellis Code Modulation technique, and then modulates the mapped data onto a particular carrier wave, and transmitted to a data receiver.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for detecting signal points transmitted over a transmission line. A data transmitter encodes input data and maps this data in accordance with a Trellis Code Modulation technique. The mapped data is then modulated onto a particular carrier wave, and transmitted to a data receiver. The data receiver compensates for any detected phase shift in the carrier wave, and decodes the phase-corrected data to quickly detect parallel path information of the received data.

24 Jun 2005TL;DR: In this paper, the threshold voltage can be actively controlled in accordance with the dispersion of threshold voltage, so that an increase in consumed power, an erroneous operation and the like can be suppressed.
Abstract: A thin film semiconductor apparatus comprising thin film transistors integrated on a substrate, and a wiring connecting the thin film transistors to one another, wherein each of the thin film transistors comprises a channel which has a predetermined threshold-voltage and on-off operates depending on a gate voltage applied through a wiring, wherein at least a part of the thin film transistors comprises a semiconductor thin film constituting the channel, and a first gate electrode and a second gate electrode disposed on a surface and a back surface of the semiconductor thin film through an insulating film, wherein the first and second gate electrodes receive a first gate voltage and a second gate voltage, respectively, through wirings which are separately provided, wherein the first gate electrode on-off controls the channel depending on the first gate voltage, and wherein the second gate electrode actively controls the threshold voltage depending on the second gate voltage to render the on-off operation of the thin film transistors appropriate. The semiconductor apparatus of the present invention is advantageous in that the threshold voltage can be actively controlled in accordance with the-dispersion of the threshold voltage, so that an increase in consumed power, an erroneous operation and the like can be suppressed. Thus, it is possible to stably provide a high performance threshold voltage circuit array in high yield.
