TL;DR: This article investigates the multicast communication of a satellite and aerial-integrated network with rate-splitting multiple access with RSMA, where both satellite and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) components are controlled by network management center and operate in the same frequency band.
Abstract: To satisfy the explosive access demands of Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices, various kinds of multiple access techniques have received much attention. In this article, we investigate the multicast communication of a satellite and aerial-integrated network (SAIN) with rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA), where both satellite and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) components are controlled by network management center and operate in the same frequency band. Considering a content delivery scenario, the UAV subnetwork adopts the RSMA to support massive access of IoT devices (IoTDs) and achieve desired performances of interference suppression, spectral efficiency, and hardware complexity. We first formulate an optimization problem to maximize the sum rate of the considered system subject to the signal-interference-plus-noise-ratio requirements of IoTDs and per-antenna power constraints at the UAV and satellite. To solve this nonconvex optimization problem, we exploit the sequential convex approximation and the first-order Taylor expansion to convert the original optimization problem into a solvable one with the rank-one constraint, and then propose an iterative penalty function-based algorithm to solve it. Finally, simulation results verify that the proposed method can effectively suppress the mutual interference and improve the system sum rate compared to the benchmark schemes.

TL;DR: Using in situ high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, it is found that Ag nanoparticles can be deformed like a liquid droplet but remain highly crystalline in the interior, with no sign of dislocation activity during deformation.
Abstract: In nanotechnology, small-volume metals with large surface area are used as electrodes, catalysts, interconnects and antennae. Their shape stability at room temperature has, however, been questioned. Using in situ high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, we find that Ag nanoparticles can be deformed like a liquid droplet but remain highly crystalline in the interior, with no sign of dislocation activity during deformation. Surface-diffusion-mediated pseudoelastic deformation is evident at room temperature, which can be driven by either an external force or capillary-energy minimization. Atomistic simulations confirm that such highly unusual Coble pseudoelasticity can indeed happen for sub-10-nm Ag particles at room temperature and at timescales from seconds to months.

TL;DR: A unifying framework is proposed to design a dynamic output feedback control law, which drives the states to the origin almost surely while maintaining all the closed-loop signals bounded almost surely.
Abstract: This paper develops a unifying framework for output feedback regulation of stochastic nonlinear systems with more general stochastic inverse dynamics. The contributions of this work are characterized by the following novel features: (1) Motivated by the concept of integral input-to-state stability (iISS) in deterministic systems and stochastic input-to-state stability (SISS) using Lyapunov function in stochastic systems, a concept of stochastic integral input-to-state stability (SiISS) using Lyapunov function is first introduced, two important properties of SiISS are obtained: (i) SiISS is strictly weaker than SISS using Lyapunov function; (ii) SiISS is stronger than the minimum-phase property. However, only under the minimum-phase assumption, there is no dynamic output feedback control law for global stabilization in probability. (2) Almost sure boundedness, a reasonable and stronger concept than boundedness in probability, is introduced. The purpose of introducing the concept is to prove the boundedness and convergence of some signals in the closed-loop control system. (3) Some important mathematical tools which play an essential role in the boundedness and convergence analysis of the closed-loop system are established. (4) A unifying framework is proposed to design a dynamic output feedback control law, which drives the states to the origin almost surely while maintaining all the closed-loop signals bounded almost surely.
