TL;DR: The paper answers the challenging questions in pinning control of complex networks: what sufficient conditions can guarantee global asymptotic stability of the pinning process; what nodes should be chosen as pinned candidates; and how many nodes are needed to be pinned for a fixed coupling strength.
Abstract: This paper presents some low-dimensional pinning criteria for global synchronization of both directed and undirected complex networks, and proposes specifically pinning schemes to select pinned nodes by investigating the relationship among pinning synchronization, network topology, and the coupling strength. The paper answers the challenging questions in pinning control of complex networks: 1) what sufficient conditions can guarantee global asymptotic stability of the pinning process; 2) what nodes should be chosen as pinned candidates; and 3) how many nodes are needed to be pinned for a fixed coupling strength? Furthermore, an adaptive pinning control scheme is developed to achieve synchronization of general complex networks. Numerical examples are given to verify our theoretical analysis.

TL;DR: This paper develops a series of operators for aggregating IFNs, establishes various properties of these power aggregation operators, and applies them to develop some approaches to multiple attribute group decision making with Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy information.
Abstract: Intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (IFNs) are very suitable to be used for depicting uncertain or fuzzy information. Motivated by the idea of power aggregation [R.R. Yager, The power average operator, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics-Part A 31 (2001) 724-731], in this paper, we develop a series of operators for aggregating IFNs, establish various properties of these power aggregation operators, and then apply them to develop some approaches to multiple attribute group decision making with Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy information. Moreover, we extend these aggregation operators and decision making approaches to interval-valued Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy environments.

TL;DR: A thorough investigation into current LED-based indoor positioning systems and compares their performance through many aspects, such as test environment, accuracy, and cost is undertaken.
Abstract: As Global Positioning System (GPS) cannot provide satisfying performance in indoor environments, indoor positioning technology, which utilizes indoor wireless signals instead of GPS signals, has grown rapidly in recent years. Meanwhile, visible light communication (VLC) using light devices such as light emitting diodes (LEDs) has been deemed to be a promising candidate in the heterogeneous wireless networks that may collaborate with radio frequencies (RF) wireless networks. In particular, light-fidelity has a great potential for deployment in future indoor environments because of its high throughput and security advantages. This paper provides a comprehensive study of a novel positioning technology based on visible white LED lights, which has attracted much attention from both academia and industry. The essential characteristics and principles of this system are deeply discussed, and relevant positioning algorithms and designs are classified and elaborated. This paper undertakes a thorough investigation into current LED-based indoor positioning systems and compares their performance through many aspects, such as test environment, accuracy, and cost. It presents indoor hybrid positioning systems among VLC and other systems (e.g., inertial sensors and RF systems). We also review and classify outdoor VLC positioning applications for the first time. Finally, this paper surveys major advances as well as open issues, challenges, and future research directions in VLC positioning systems.

TL;DR: This protocol describes how to carry out the sucrose preference test (SPT) in a standardized way to reduce data variability and provides a detailed protocol to ensure greater consistency when carrying out SPT.
Abstract: Anhedonia is the inability to experience pleasure from rewarding or enjoyable activities and is a core symptom of depression in humans. Here, we describe a protocol for the measurement of anhedonia in mice, in which anhedonia is measured by a sucrose preference test (SPT) based on a two-bottle choice paradigm. A reduction in the sucrose preference ratio in experimental relative to control mice is indicative of anhedonia. To date, inconsistent and variable results have been reported following the use of the SPT by different groups, probably due to the use of different protocols and equipment. In this protocol, we describe how to set up a clearly defined apparatus for SPT and provide a detailed protocol to ensure greater consistency when carrying out SPT. This optimized protocol is highly sensitive, reliable, and adaptable for evaluation of chronic stress-related anhedonia, as well as morphine-induced dependence. The whole SPT, including adaptation, baseline measurement, and testing, takes 8 d.

TL;DR: PPy has a good biocompatibility with rat peripheral nerve tissue and that PPy might be a candidate material for bridging the peripheral nerve gap according to the results of this study.
Abstract: In this study, the biocompatibility of the electrically conductive polymer polypyrrole (PPy) with nerve tissue was evaluated in vitro and in vivo. The extraction solution of PPy powder, which was synthesized chemically, was tested for acute toxicity, subacute toxicity, pyretogen, quantitative measure of cell viability, hemolysis, allergen, and micronuclei. The PPy membrane was synthesized electrochemically on the indium tin oxide conductive borosilicate glass. The dorsal root ganglia from 1-3-day-old Sprague-Dawley rats were cultured above PPy membrane and observed by light or scanning electron microscopy. The PPy-silicone tube (PPy membrane on the inner surface of the silicone tube) also synthesized electrochemically was used to bridge across 10-mm sciatic nerve gap in rats. Twenty-four weeks after the operation to rats, the regenerated tissues were observed by electrophysiological and histological techniques. PPy extraction solution showed no evidence of acute and subacute toxicity, pyretogen, hemolysis, allergen, and mutagenesis, and the Schwann cells from the PPy extraction solution group showed better survival rate and proliferation rate as compared with the saline solution control group. The migration of the Schwann cells and the neurite extension from dorsal root ganglia on the surface of PPy membrane-coated glass was better than those of bare glass. There was only lightly inflammation during 6 months of the postoperation, when the PPy-silicone tube bridged across the gap of the transected sciatic nerve. The regeneration of nerve tissue in the PPy-silicone tube was slightly better than that in the plain silicone tube by means of electrophysiological and histological examination. The results of this study indicate that PPy has a good biocompatibility with rat peripheral nerve tissue and that PPy might be a candidate material for bridging the peripheral nerve gap.
