TL;DR: In this article, the capabilities of 16 kinds of structural defects including point defects (PDs) and grain boundaries (GBs) to activate the basal plane of MoS2 monolayer were evaluated.
Abstract: Nanoscale molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has attracted ever-growing interest as one of the most promising nonprecious catalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). However, the active sites of pristine MoS2 are located at the edges, leaving a large area of basal planes useless. Here, we systematically evaluate the capabilities of 16 kinds of structural defects including point defects (PDs) and grain boundaries (GBs) to activate the basal plane of MoS2 monolayer. Our first-principle calculations show that six types of defects (i.e., Vs, VMoS3, MoS2 PDs; 4|8a, S bridge, and Mo–Mo bond GBs) can greatly improve the HER performance of the in-plane domains of MoS2. More importantly, Vs and MoS2 PDs and S bridge and 4|8a GBs exhibit outstanding activity in both Heyrovsky and Tafel reactions as well. Moreover, the different HER activities of defects are well-understood by an amendatory band-center model, which is applicable to a broad class of systems with localized defect states. Our study provides a comprehensi...

TL;DR: In this article, a new guided wave structure of half mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW) for microwave and millimeter wave application is proposed for the first time.
Abstract: In this paper, a new guided wave structure of half mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW) for microwave and millimeter wave application is proposed for the first time. The principle of the HMSIW is described, and its propagation characteristics are simulated and measured. The measured results at microwave and millimeter wave bands show that the attenuation of it is less than that of conventional microstrip and even SIW, but its size is nearly half of a SIW. Thus, we can further compress the size of a microwave or millimeter wave integrated circuit based on this new guided wave structure.

TL;DR: This technical note studies the consensus problem for cooperative agents with nonlinear dynamics in a directed network through a combination of the tools of complex analysis, local consensus manifold approach, and Lyapunov methods.
Abstract: This technical note studies the consensus problem for cooperative agents with nonlinear dynamics in a directed network. Both local and global consensus are defined and investigated. Techniques for studying the synchronization in such complex networks are exploited to establish various sufficient conditions for reaching consensus. The local consensus problem is first studied via a combination of the tools of complex analysis, local consensus manifold approach, and Lyapunov methods. A generalized algebraic connectivity is then proposed to study the global consensus problem in strongly connected networks and also in a broad class of networks containing spanning trees, for which ideas from algebraic graph theory, matrix theory, and Lyapunov methods are utilized.

TL;DR: In this article, a bulk-passivation strategy via incorporation of chlorine, to enlarge grains and reduce electronic disorder in mixed tin-lead low-bandgap perovskite absorber layers is reported.
Abstract: Multi-junction all-perovskite tandem solar cells are a promising choice for next-generation solar cells with high efficiency and low fabrication cost. However, the lack of high-quality low-bandgap perovskite absorber layers seriously hampers the development of efficient and stable two-terminal monolithic all-perovskite tandem solar cells. Here, we report a bulk-passivation strategy via incorporation of chlorine, to enlarge grains and reduce electronic disorder in mixed tin–lead low-bandgap (~1.25 eV) perovskite absorber layers. This enables the fabrication of efficient low-bandgap perovskite solar cells using thick absorber layers (~750 nm), which is a requisite for efficient tandem solar cells. Such improvement enables the fabrication of two-terminal all-perovskite tandem solar cells with a champion power conversion efficiency of 21% and steady-state efficiency of 20.7%. The efficiency is retained to 85% of its initial performance after 80 h of operation under continuous illumination. Two-terminal monolithic all-perovskite tandem solar cells are attractive due to their flexible nature and low-cost fabrication. Here the authors develop a process to obtain high-quality Sn–Pb perovskite thin films by incorporating chlorine. Such layers are employed to fabricate 20.7%-efficient tandem cells with 80 h operational stability.

TL;DR: Numerical simulations are exploited to demonstrate the effectiveness of the pinning impulsive strategy proposed, which guarantees that the whole state-coupled dynamical network can be forced to some desired trajectory by placing impulsive controllers on a small fraction of nodes.
Abstract: In this paper, a new control strategy is proposed for the synchronization of stochastic dynamical networks with nonlinear coupling. Pinning state feedback controllers have been proved to be effective for synchronization control of state-coupled dynamical networks. We will show that pinning impulsive controllers are also effective for synchronization control of the above mentioned dynamical networks. Some generic mean square stability criteria are derived in terms of algebraic conditions, which guarantee that the whole state-coupled dynamical network can be forced to some desired trajectory by placing impulsive controllers on a small fraction of nodes. An effective method is given to select the nodes which should be controlled at each impulsive constants. The proportion of the controlled nodes guaranteeing the stability is explicitly obtained, and the synchronization region is also derived and clearly plotted. Numerical simulations are exploited to demonstrate the effectiveness of the pinning impulsive strategy proposed in this paper.
