TL;DR: The developed field modulation theory not only unifies the principle analysis of a large variety of electrical machines, including conventional dc machine, induction machine, and synchronous machine which are just special cases of the general field modulated machines, thus eliminating the problem of the machine theory fragmentation, but also provides a powerful guidance for inventing new machine topologies.
Abstract: This paper proposes a general field modulation theory for electrical machines by introducing magnetomotive force modulation operator to characterize the influence of short-circuited coil, variable reluctance, and flux guide on the primitive magnetizing magnetomotive force distribution established by field winding function multiplied by field current along the airgap peripheral. Magnetically anisotropic stator and rotor behave like modulators to produce a spectrum of field harmonics and the armature winding plays the role of a spatial filter to extract effective field harmonics to contribute the corresponding flux linkage and induce the electromotive force. The developed field modulation theory not only unifies the principle analysis of a large variety of electrical machines, including conventional dc machine, induction machine, and synchronous machine which are just special cases of the general field modulated machines, thus eliminating the problem of the machine theory fragmentation, but also provides a powerful guidance for inventing new machine topologies.

TL;DR: A brief review of current research activities that focus on the fabrication of ceramic nanofibers by electrospinning, as well as their applications in various areas is provided in this paper.
Abstract: This paper provides a brief review of current research activities that focus on the fabrication of ceramic nanofibers by electrospinning, as well as their applications in various areas. We begin with a brief introduction to electrospinning in the context of ceramic nanofibers, and the methods for preparing aligned and/or hollow nanofibers. We then discuss approaches to the fabrication of nanofibers with a hierarchical structure. We continue with a highlight of some recent applications enabled by electrospun ceramic nanofibers, with a focus on three areas: catalysis, environmental science, and energy technology, which are expected to become the most important and exciting subjects of research in this century. In the end, we conclude this review with some perspectives on the future directions and implications for this new class of functional nanomaterials. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

TL;DR: This paper utilizes geometric distance model to define some continuous distance and similarity measures for IFSs, which are the various combinations and generalizations of the weighted Hamming distance, the weighted Euclidean distance and the weighted Hausdorff distance.
Abstract: The Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets (IFSs), originated by Atanassov [1], is a useful tool to deal with vagueness and ambiguity. In the short time since their first appearance, many different distance and similarity measures of IFSs have been proposed, but they are scattered through the literature. In this paper, we give a comprehensive overview of distance and similarity measures of IFSs. Based on the weighted Hamming distance, the weighted Euclidean distance, and the weighted Hausdorff distance, respectively, we define some continuous distance and similarity measures for IFSs. We also utilize geometric distance model to define some continuous distance and similarity measures for IFSs, which are the various combinations and generalizations of the weighted Hamming distance, the weighted Euclidean distance and the weighted Hausdorff distance. Then we extend these distance and similarity measures for Interval-Valued Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets (IVIFSs).
