TL;DR: In this paper, various statistical techniques available for enhancing the reliability and interpretation of ecological multiple regressions in the presence of multicollinearity are presented. But, the authors do not consider the impact of these techniques on ecological data analysis in biodiversity studies.
Abstract: Multicollinearity of explanatory variables often threatens statistical interpretation of ecological data analysis in biodiversity studies. Using litter ants as an example, the impact of multicollinearity on ecological multiple regression and complications arsing from collinearity is explained. We list the various statistical techniques available for enhancing the reliability and interpretation of ecological multiple regressions in the presence of multicollinearity.
Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the long run relationship between gold price and inflation from the Indian experience and concluded that there is no long-term relationship between the gold prices and inflation.
Abstract: The study examines the long run relationship between gold price and inflation from the Indian experience. The main objective of the study is to identify whether there is long run relationship between the gold price and inflation. For the investigation three year monthly data from July 2011 to June 2014. The study is conducted by Augmented Dickey Fuller Unit Root Test, Johansen Co-integration Test and Granger Causality Test and finally came to the conclusion that there is no long run relationship between gold price and inflation.

TL;DR: The utility of weaver ants and their potential in the control of agricultural pests was highlighted in this article. But, the authors did not consider the problem of lack of nesting trees in monoculture rubber plantations and the negative attitude of people towards weavers.
Abstract: The utility of weaver ants (Oecophylla smaragdina Fabricius, 1775), and their potential in the control of agricultural pests, is highlighted. Comprehensive data on its habits, habitat requirements, foraging behaviour, social organisation involving polyethism and polydomous nesting behaviour, aggressiveness and recent establishment as an efficient biocontrol agent of the main insect pests in cashew, citrus and mango are listed. Identification of weaver ants as the sole arthropod predator that prey upon the nuisance pest Luprops tristis Fabricius, 1801, in rubber plantations and its possibility as an effective biocontrol agent to regulate the beetles are detailed. Lack of nesting trees in monoculture rubber plantations and the negative attitude of people towards weaver ants will hinder the establishment of weaver ants as an effective predator and biocontrol agent of L. tristis in rubber plantations.

TL;DR: A detailed lineshape analysis of the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) spectra taken on pulse electrodeposited nanocrystalline (nc-) Ni sheets (with the average crystallite size, d, varying from 10 to 40 nm) at temperatures ranging from 113 K to 325 k yield accurate values for saturation magnetization, M s (T), Lande splitting factor, g, anisotropy field, H k (T ), resonance field, h res, and FMR linewidth.

TL;DR: A new genus of enigmatic tribe Physocrotaphini, Physoglossus gen. nov., with a new species Ph. devagiriensis sp.nov.
Abstract: A new genus of enigmatic tribe Physocrotaphini, Physoglossus gen. nov., with a new species Ph. devagiriensis sp. nov. from a dry deciduous forest in the rain shadow belt of the south Western Ghats in south west India is described. Presence of mentum with bifid median tooth and large oval depression with dense patch of filamentous setae on 2nd and 3rd male sternites makes it intermediate to the Physocrotaphini genera, Pogonoglossus, Foveocrotaphus and Physocrotaphus. Key words: new ground beetle species, Anthiinae, the Western Ghats, India
