TL;DR: The compactness, which can follow the sparsity pattern of sparse matrices, endows the CUSNMF with online learning capability and the fine granularity gives it high parallelization potential on GPU and multi-GPU, as well as the linear scalability of the time overhead and the space requirement and the validity of the extension to online learning.
Abstract: Generalized sparse nonnegative matrix factorization (SNMF) has been proven useful in extracting information and representing sparse data with various types of probabilistic distributions from industrial applications, e.g., recommender systems and social networks. However, current solution approaches for generalized SNMF are based on the manipulation of whole sparse matrices and factor matrices, which will result in large-scale intermediate data. Thus, these approaches cannot describe the high-dimensional and sparse matrices in mainstream industrial and big data platforms, e.g., graphics processing unit (GPU) and multi-GPU, in an online and scalable manner. To overcome these issues, an online, scalable, and single-thread-based SNMF for CUDA parallelization on GPU (CUSNMF) and multi-GPU (MCUSNMF) is proposed in this article. First, theoretical derivation is conducted, which demonstrates that the CUSNMF depends only on the products and sums of the involved feature tuples. Next, the compactness, which can follow the sparsity pattern of sparse matrices, endows the CUSNMF with online learning capability and the fine granularity gives it high parallelization potential on GPU and multi-GPU. Finally, the performance results on several real industrial datasets demonstrate the linear scalability of the time overhead and the space requirement and the validity of the extension to online learning. Moreover, CUSNMF obtains speedup of 7X on a P100 GPU compared to that of the state-of-the-art parallel approaches on a shared memory platform.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors developed a scheme to identify salient features of health misinformation, including exaggeration/absolutes, induced text, claims of being unique and secret, intemperate tone or language, and statements of excessive significance.
Abstract: This study aims at helping people recognize health misinformation on social media in China. A scheme was first developed to identify the features of health misinformation on social media based on content analysis of 482 pieces of health information from WeChat, a social media platform widely used in China. This scheme was able to identify salient features of health misinformation, including exaggeration/absolutes, induced text, claims of being unique and secret, intemperate tone or language, and statements of excessive significance and likewise. The scheme was then evaluated in a user-centred experiment to test if it is useful in identifying features of health misinformation. Forty-four participants for the experimental group and 38 participants for the control group participated and finished the experiment, which compared the effectiveness of these participants in using the scheme to identify health misinformation. The results indicate that the scheme is effective in terms of improving users’ capability in health misinformation identification. The results also indicate that the participants’ capability of recognizing misinformation in the experimental group has been significantly improved compared to those of the control group. The study provides insights into health misinformation and has implications in enhancing people's online health information literacy. It informs the development of a system that can automatically limit the spread of health misinformation. Moreover, it potentially improves users’ online health information literacy, in particular, under the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. © 2021 Elsevier Ltd

TL;DR: In this article , a thermally stable (upwards of 1300 °C), antioxidation, and anticorrosion-printed conductor with the capability of additively manufacturing on Corning flexible Alumina Ribbon Ceramic is presented.
Abstract: Copper has attracted immense interest in advanced electronics attributed to its abundance and high electrical and thermal characteristics. However, the ease of oxidation when subjected to heat and humidity drastically limits its material reliability under extreme environments. Here, we utilize copper nanoplates as a building block to achieve a thermally stable (upwards of 1300 °C), antioxidation, and anticorrosion-printed conductor, with the capability of additively manufacturing on Corning flexible Alumina Ribbon Ceramic. We elucidate the printed copper nanoplates with a low sheet resistance of 4 mΩ/sq/mil by means of a surface-coordinated formate that inculcates high oxidation and corrosion resistance on a molecular level. In addition, an in situ copper–graphene conversion leads to a hybridized conductor displaying stability at elevated temperatures up to 1300 °C with high ampacity. Further mechanistic studies reveal high-temperature stability from in situ graphene conversion for copper and graphene interfaces, and preferential stacking of copper nanoplates, distinctly suited for emerging high-temperature flexible electronics.

TL;DR: The role of temperament in the development of forms (physical and relational) and functions (i.e., proactive and reactive) of aggressive behavior in early childhood was examined in this paper .
Abstract: Abstract This study used a short-term longitudinal design with theoretically derived preregistered hypotheses and analyses to examine the role of temperament in the development of forms (i.e., physical and relational) and functions (i.e., proactive and reactive) of aggressive behavior in early childhood ( N = 300, M age = 44.70 months, SD = 4.38, 44% girls). Temperament was measured via behavioral reports of emotional dysregulation, fearlessness/daring, and rule internalization/empathy and, in a subsample that completed a physiological assessment, via skin conductance and respiratory sinus arrhythmia. Emotion dysregulation generally served as a risk factor for all subtypes of aggression, with evidence of stronger associations with reactive as compared to proactive functions of relational aggression for girls. Daring predicted increases in physical aggression, especially among boys, and rule internalization predicted decreases in relational aggression, especially among girls. Rule internalization mediated longitudinal associations between daring and proactive relational aggression for girls. Some evidence also emerged supporting associations between adaptive functioning (i.e., high empathy, high respiratory sinus arrhythmia) and proactive functions of aggression. Findings highlight distinct temperamental risk factors for physical versus relational aggression and provide partial support for gender-linked theories of the development of aggression.

TL;DR: RAD51 gene expression is associated with aggressive cancer biology, cancer cell proliferation, and poor survival in breast cancer patients as mentioned in this paper , and it was positively correlated with Homologous Recombination Deficiency, as well as both mutational burden and neoantigens.
Abstract: Although the DNA repair mechanism is important in preventing carcinogenesis, its activation in established cancer cells may support their proliferation and aggravate cancer progression. RAD51 cooperates with BRCA2 and is essential in the homologous recombination of DNA repair. To this end, we hypothesized that RAD51 gene expression is associated with cancer cell proliferation and poor prognosis of breast cancer (BC) patients.A total of 8515 primary BC patients with transcriptome and clinical data from 17 independent cohorts were analyzed. The median value was used to divide each cohort into high and low RAD51 expression groups.High RAD51 expression enriched the DNA repair gene set and was correlated with DNA repair-related genes. Nottingham histological grade, Ki67 expression and cell proliferation-related gene sets (E2F Targets, G2M Checkpoint and Myc Targets) were all significantly associated with the high RAD51 BC group. RAD51 expression was positively correlated with Homologous Recombination Deficiency, as well as both mutational burden and neoantigens that accompanied a higher infiltration of immune cells. Primary BC with lymph node metastases was associated with high expression of RAD51 in two cohorts. There was no strong correlation between RAD51 expression and drug sensitivity in cell lines, and RAD51 expression was lower after the neoadjuvant chemotherapy compared to before the treatment. High RAD51 BC was associated with poor prognosis consistently in three independent cohorts.RAD51 gene expression is associated with aggressive cancer biology, cancer cell proliferation, and poor survival in breast cancer.

TL;DR: In this article , it is shown that the flow angle fluctuations measurements, obtained with the two-and three-subevents correlation method, could have significant nonflow effects associated with long and short-range nonflow correlations.
Abstract: Recently studies of the differential nature of the flow angle fluctuations, known as event plane angular decorrelation, indicated that measurements that assume a common symmetry plane may need to consider the flow angle fluctuations effect. Using the hijing and ampt models, it is shown that the flow angle fluctuations measurements, obtained with the two- and three-subevents correlation method, could have significant nonflow effects associated with long- and short-range nonflow correlations. The current study demonstrates the four-subevents cumulant methods' ability to reduce the nonflow effects. It is further argued that the measurements using the four-subevents correlation method can be used to provide accurate quantification of the differential flow angle fluctuations.
