14 May 2001TL;DR: This paper shows how using a representation of an elliptic curve as the intersection of two quadrics in P3 can provide a defence against Simple and Differental Power Analysis (SPA/DPA) style attacks with considerable advantages over standard algorithmic techniques of preventing SPA and DPA which usually require a significant increased computational cost.
Abstract: In this paper we show how using a representation of an elliptic curve as the intersection of two quadrics in P3 can provide a defence against Simple and Differental Power Analysis (SPA/DPA) style attacks. We combine this with a 'random window' method of point multiplication and point blinding. The proposed method offers considerable advantages over standard algorithmic techniques of preventing SPA and DPA which usually require a significant increased computational cost, usually more than double. Our method requires roughly a seventy percent increase in computational cost of the basic cryptographic operation, although we give some indication as to how this can be reduced. In addition we show that the Jacobi form is also more efficient than the standard Weierstrass form for elliptic curves in the situation where SPA and DPA are not a concern.

TL;DR: An efficient implementation of the Extended Min-Sum (EMS) decoder is proposed which reduces the order of complexity to ¿(nm log2 nm) and starts to be reasonable enough to compete with binary decoders.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose a new implementation of the Extended Min-Sum (EMS) decoder for non-binary LDPC codes. A particularity of the new algorithm is that it takes into accounts the memory problem of the non-binary LDPC decoders, together with a significant complexity reduction per decoding iteration. The key feature of our decoder is to truncate the vector messages of the decoder to a limited number nm of values in order to reduce the memory requirements. Using the truncated messages, we propose an efficient implementation of the EMS decoder which reduces the order of complexity to ?(nm log2 nm). This complexity starts to be reasonable enough to compete with binary decoders. The performance of the low complexity algorithm with proper compensation is quite good with respect to the important complexity reduction, which is shown both with a simulated density evolution approach and actual simulations.

31 Aug 2001TL;DR: In this paper, a method of filtering an image filter is presented for a digital camera including image sensors sensitive to light, a color filter placed over sensitive elements of the sensors and patterned according to a Bayer mosaic pattern layout and an interpolation algorithm joining together the digital information provided by differently colored adjacent pixels in said Bayer pattern.
Abstract: A method of filtering an image filter is disclosed. The filter is provided for a digital camera including image sensors sensitive to light, a color filter placed over sensitive elements of the sensors and patterned according to a Bayer mosaic pattern layout and an interpolation algorithm joining together the digital information provided by differently colored adjacent pixels in said Bayer pattern. The filter is adaptive and includes a noise level computation block for operating directly on a said Bayer pattern data set of for each color channel thus removing noise while simultaneously preserving picture detail.

17 Jan 2005TL;DR: In this paper, planar and three-dimensional inductors and transformers were designed and characterized on-wafer up to 100 GHz, and the first time that spiral structures are suitable for applications such as 60-GHz wireless local area network and 77-GHz automotive RADAR.
Abstract: Silicon planar and three-dimensional inductors and transformers were designed and characterized on-wafer up to 100 GHz. Self-resonance frequencies (SRFs) beyond 100 GHz were obtained, demonstrating for the first time that spiral structures are suitable for applications such as 60-GHz wireless local area network and 77-GHz automotive RADAR. Minimizing area over substrate is critical to achieving high SRF. A stacked transformer is reported with S/sub 21/ of -2.5 dB at 50 GHz, and which offers improved performance and less area (30 /spl mu/m/spl times/30 /spl mu/m) than planar transformers or microstrip couplers. A compact inductor model is described, along with a methodology for extracting model parameters from simulated or measured y-parameters. Millimeter-wave SiGe BiCMOS mixer and voltage-controlled-oscillator circuits employing spiral inductors are presented with better or comparable performance to previously reported transmission-line-based circuits.

Abstract: When dealing with many-criteria decision making and many-objectives optimization problems the concepts of Pareto optimality and Pareto dominance are inefficient for modelling and simulating human decision making Different fuzzy-based definitions of optimality and dominated solution are introduced and tested on analytical test cases in order to show their validity and closeness to human decision making
