TL;DR: In this article, a 1T cell for high-density eDRAM has been successfully developed on bulk silicon substrate for the first time, and the integration of the memory cell in a matrix arrangement is evaluated.
Abstract: A 1T cell for high-density eDRAM has been successfully developed on bulk silicon substrate for the first time. The device architecture is fully compatible with CMOS logic process integration, allowing very low chip cost for SoC applications. Experimental results show a retention time over 1s at 25/spl deg/C and 100ms at 85/spl deg/C, which is compatible with eDRAM requirements. Non-destructive readout is experimentally demonstrated at 85/spl deg/C. The integration of the memory cell in a matrix arrangement is evaluated. Gate and drain disturb are characterized, showing enough disturb margins for memory operations.

TL;DR: In this article, a scanning fingerprint detection system that includes an array of capacitive sensing elements is described, and circuitry is provided for scanning the array to capture an image of a portion of fingerprint and assembling the captured images into a fingerprint image as a fingerprint is moved over the array.
Abstract: A scanning fingerprint detection system that includes an array of capacitive sensing elements. The array has a first dimension greater than the width of a fingerprint and a second dimension less than the length of a fingerprint. Each of the capacitive sensing elements has a size less than the width of a fingerprint ridge. Circuitry is provided for scanning the array to capture an image of a portion of fingerprint and for assembling the captured images into a fingerprint image as a fingerprint is moved over the array.

TL;DR: In this paper, a single-wire bus for concurrent transmission of multiple data signals including clock, synchronization, and power over a singlewire bus between a master device and one or more slave devices is described.
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are described that enable concurrent transmission of multiple data signals including clock, synchronization, and power over a single-wire bus between a master device and one or more slave devices. A first transmission channel from the master device to the slave device may modulate the width of periodic pulses between a first voltage level and a second voltage level with respect to a reference potential. A second transmission channel may modulate the amplitude of at least one of the first and second voltage levels to at least one third voltage level. Concurrent communications between a master device and one or more slave devices over a single-wire bus can be achieved.

TL;DR: In this review, the recent advances in genetic PoC technologies are discussed, including the extraction and PCR amplification chemistry suitable for PoC use and the new frontiers of research in this field.
Abstract: Since the Human Genome Project completed in 2000, the sequencing of the first genome, massive progress has been made by medical science in the early diagnosis and personalized therapies based on nucleic acids (NA) analysis. To allow the extensive use of these molecular methods in medical practice, scientific research is nowadays strongly focusing on the development of new miniaturized and easy-to-use technologies and devices allowing fast and low cost NA analysis in decentralized environments. It is now the era of so-called genetic “Point-of-Care” (PoC). These systems must integrate and automate all steps necessary for molecular analysis such as sample preparation (extraction and purification of NA) and detection based on PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) technology in order to perform, by unskilled personnel, in vitro genetic analysis near the patient (in hospital, in the physician office, clinic, or home), with rapid answers and low cost. In this review, the recent advances in genetic PoC technologies are...

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a semiconductor electronic device consisting of a chip of semiconductor material, a set of metal conductors adjacent to the plate, a wire leads joining selected points on the chip to the metal conductor, and a supporting metal plate formed of three portions having a total surface area which is substantially less than the surface area of the chip.
Abstract: A semiconductor electronic device comprises a chip of a semiconductor material, a set of metal conductors adjacent to the plate, a set of wire leads joining selected points on the chip to the metal conductors, and a supporting metal plate formed of three portions having a total surface area which is substantially less than the surface area of the chip, and forming a H-shaped supporting structure. All this, except the ends of the metal conductors, is encapsulated within a plastic material body.
