TL;DR: Perioperative mFOLFOX6 alone had inferior results and a lower pCR rate than chemoradiotherapy but led to a similar downstaging rate as fluorouracil-radiotherapy, with less toxicity and fewer postoperative complications.
Abstract: PURPOSE Total mesorectal excision with fluorouracil-based preoperative chemoradiotherapy and postoperative chemotherapy is a standard treatment of locally advanced rectal cancer. This study investigated the addition of oxaliplatin with and without preoperative radiotherapy. METHODS In this multicenter, open-label, phase III trial, we randomly assigned (1:1:1) Chinese adults (age 18 to 75 years) with locally advanced stage II/III rectal cancer to three treatments: five 2-week cycles of infusional fluorouracil (leucovorin 400 mg/m(2), fluorouracil 400 mg/m(2), and fluorouracil 2.4 g/m(2) over 48 h) plus radiotherapy (46.0 to 50.4 Gy delivered in 23 to 25 fractions during cycles 2 through 4) followed by surgery and seven cycles of infusional fluorouracil, the same treatment plus intravenous oxaliplatin 85 mg/m(2) on day 1 of each cycle (modified FOLFOX6 [mFOLFOX6]), or four to six cycles of mFOLFOX6 followed by surgery and six to eight cycles of mFOLFOX6. Random assignment was performed by using computer-generated block randomization codes. The primary end point was 3-year disease-free survival. Secondary end points of histopathologic response and toxicity are reported. RESULTS A total of 495 patients were enrolled from June 2010 to February 2015; 475 were evaluable (fluorouracil-radiotherapy, n = 155; mFOLFOX6-radiotherapy, n = 157; mFOLFOX6, n = 163). In the fluorouracil-radiotherapy, mFOLFOX6-radiotherapy, and mFOLFOX6 groups, the rate of pathologic complete response (pCR) was 14.0%, 27.5%, and 6.6%, and downstaging (ypStage 0 to 1) was achieved by 37.1%, 56.4%, and 35.5% of patients, respectively. Higher toxicity and more postoperative complications were observed in patients who received radiotherapy. CONCLUSION mFOLFOX6-based preoperative chemoradiotherapy results in a higher pCR rate than fluorouracil-based treatment. Perioperative mFOLFOX6 alone had inferior results and a lower pCR rate than chemoradiotherapy but led to a similar downstaging rate as fluorouracil-radiotherapy, with less toxicity and fewer postoperative complications.

TL;DR: In this paper, a spatial transformer layer is proposed to locate attentional regions from the convolutional feature maps in a region-proposal-free way and an LSTM (Long Short Term Memory) sub-network is used to sequentially predict semantic labeling scores on the located regions.
Abstract: This paper proposes a novel deep architecture to address multi-label image recognition, a fundamental and practical task towards general visual understanding. Current solutions for this task usually rely on an extra step of extracting hypothesis regions (i.e., region proposals), resulting in redundant computation and sub-optimal performance. In this work, we achieve the interpretable and contextualized multi-label image classification by developing a recurrent memorized-attention module. This module consists of two alternately performed components: i) a spatial transformer layer to locate attentional regions from the convolutional feature maps in a region-proposal-free way and ii) an LSTM (Long-Short Term Memory) sub-network to sequentially predict semantic labeling scores on the located regions while capturing the global dependencies of these regions. The LSTM also output the parameters for computing the spatial transformer. On large-scale benchmarks of multi-label image classification (e.g., MS-COCO and PASCAL VOC 07), our approach demonstrates superior performances over other existing state-of-the-arts in both accuracy and efficiency.

TL;DR: By verifying smart contracts on Ethereum, this paper first extracts features from user accounts and operation codes of the smart contracts and then builds a classification model to detect latent Ponzi schemes implemented as smart contracts, and shows that the proposed approach can achieve high accuracy for practical use.
Abstract: Blockchain technology becomes increasingly popular. It also attracts scams, for example, Ponzi scheme, a classic fraud, has been found making a notable amount of money on Blockchain, which has a very negative impact. To help dealing with this issue, this paper proposes an approach to detect Ponzi schemes on blockchain by using data mining and machine learning methods. By verifying smart contracts on Ethereum, we first extract features from user accounts and operation codes of the smart contracts and then build a classification model to detect latent Ponzi schemes implemented as smart contracts. The experimental results show that the proposed approach can achieve high accuracy for practical use. More importantly, the approach can be used to detect Ponzi schemes even at the moment of its creation. By using the proposed approach, we estimate that there are more than 400 Ponzi schemes running on Ethereum. Based on these results, we propose to build a uniform platform to evaluate and monitor every created smart contract for early warning of scams.

TL;DR: In this article, the piezofluorochromic properties of aggregation-induced enhanced emission (AIEE) compounds were investigated using nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, elemental analysis, photoluminescence, ultraviolet-visible absorption, wide-angle X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry.
Abstract: Distyrylanthracene derivatives, AnP3 and AnP3P with triphenylethylene end-groups, and AnP4 and AnP4P with tetraphenylethylene end-groups, were synthesized and characterized using nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, elemental analysis, photoluminescence, ultraviolet-visible absorption, wide-angle X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry and other techniques. The results show that the piezofluorochromic properties of these four aggregation-induced enhanced emission (AIEE) compounds were influenced significantly by the structures of the end-groups in the molecules. The AnP4 and AnP4P derivatives with tetraphenylethylene end-groups exhibited distinct piezofluorochromic properties, which might be switched reversibly upon pressing or annealing because of crystalline-amorphous phase transformation. Thus, we propose that those AIEE compounds that contain steric hindrance groups may exhibit evident piezofluorochromic activities.
