Abstract: This paper provides a state-of-the-art literature review on economic analysis and pricing models for data collection and wireless communication in Internet of Things (IoT). Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are the main component of IoT which collect data from the environment and transmit the data to the sink nodes. For long service time and low maintenance cost, WSNs require adaptive and robust designs to address many issues, e.g., data collection, topology formation, packet forwarding, resource and power optimization, coverage optimization, efficient task allocation, and security. For these issues, sensors have to make optimal decisions from current capabilities and available strategies to achieve desirable goals. This paper reviews numerous applications of the economic and pricing models, known as intelligent rational decision-making methods, to develop adaptive algorithms and protocols for WSNs. Besides, we survey a variety of pricing strategies in providing incentives for phone users in crowdsensing applications to contribute their sensing data. Furthermore, we consider the use of some pricing models in Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication. Finally, we highlight some important open research issues as well as future research directions of applying economic and pricing models to IoT.

TL;DR: A MoSe 2 p-n diode with a van der Waals homojunction with a high external quantum efficiency is demonstrated by stacking undoped and Nb-doped semiconducting MoSe2 synthesized by chemical vapor transport for Nb substitutional doping.
Abstract: A MoSe2 p-n diode with a van der Waals homojunction is demonstrated by stacking undoped (n-type) and Nb-doped (p-type) semiconducting MoSe2 synthesized by chemical vapor transport for Nb substitutional doping. The p-n diode reveals an ideality factor of ≈1.0 and a high external quantum efficiency (≈52%), which increases in response to light intensity due to the negligible recombination rate at the clean homojunction interface.

TL;DR: Two methods are proposed: early SKIP mode decision and selective intra mode decision that are verified to significantly reduce the entire encoding time by about 60% with only negligible coding loss.
Abstract: The MPEG-4 Part-10 AVC/H.264 standard employs several powerful coding methods to obtain high compression efficiency. To reduce the temporal and spatial redundancy more effectively, motion compensation uses variable block sizes, and directional intra prediction investigates all available coding modes to decide the best one. When the rate-distortion (R-D) optimization technique is used, an encoder finds the coding mode having minimum R-D cost. Due to the large number of combinations of coding modes, the decision process requires extremely high computation. To reduce the complexity, we propose two methods: early SKIP mode decision and selective intra mode decision. In the simulation results, the proposed methods are verified to significantly reduce the entire encoding time by about 60% with only negligible coding loss

TL;DR: In this paper, a search for neutral Higgs bosons decaying to tau pairs at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV is performed using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb^(−1) recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC.
Abstract: A search for neutral Higgs bosons decaying to tau pairs at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV is performed using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb^(−1) recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The search is sensitive to both the standard model Higgs boson and to the neutral Higgs bosons predicted by the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model (MSSM). No excess of events is observed in the tau-pair invariant-mass spectrum. For a standard model Higgs boson in the mass range of 110–145 GeV upper limits at 95% confidence level (CL) on the production cross section are determined. We exclude a Higgs boson with m_H=115 GeV with a production cross section 3.2 times of that predicted by the standard model. In the MSSM, upper limits on the neutral Higgs boson production cross section times branching fraction to tau pairs, as a function of the pseudoscalar Higgs boson mass, m_A, sets stringent new bounds in the parameter space, excluding at 95% CL values of tan β as low as 7.1 at m_A=160 GeV in the m^(max)_h benchmark scenario.
