TL;DR: In this article, the search for the top quark in p anti-p collisions at S**(1/2) = 1.8 TeV with an integrated luminosity of 13.9.
Abstract: We present new results on the search for the top quark in p anti-p collisions at S**(1/2) = 1.8 TeV with an integrated luminosity of 13.5 +- 1.6 pb**(-1). We have considered t anti-t production in the Standard Model using electron and muon dilepton decay channels (t anti-t -> e mu + jets, e e + jets, and mu mu + jets) and single-lepton decay channels (t anti-t -> e + jets and mu + jets) with and without tagging of b quark jets. From all channels, we have 9 events with an expected background of 3.8 +- 0.9. If we assume that the excess is due to t anti-t production, and assuming a top mass of 180 GeV/c**2, we obtain a cross section of 8.2 +- 5.1 pb.

TL;DR: In this article, a search for a charged Higgs boson is performed with a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 +/- 0.5 fb(-1) collected with the CMS detector in proton-proton collisions at root s = 8,TeV.
Abstract: A search for a charged Higgs boson is performed with a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 +/- 0.5 fb(-1) collected with the CMS detector in proton-proton collisions at root s = 8,TeV. The charged Higgs boson is searched for in top quark decays for m(H +/-) t(b)H-+/- for m(H +/-) > m(t) - m(b). The H-+/- -> tau(+/-)nu(tau) and H-+/- -> tb decay modes in the final states tau(h)+jets, mu tau(h), l+jets, and ll' (l =e, mu) are considered in the search. No signal is observed and 95% confidence level upper limits are set on the charged Higgs boson production. A model-independent upper limit on the product branching fraction B(t -> H(+/-)b) B(H-+/- -> tau(+/-)nu(tau)) = 1.2-0.15% is obtained in the mass range m(H +/-) = 80-160 GeV, while the upper limit on the cross section times branching fraction sigma(pp -> t(b)H-+/-) B(H-+/- -> tau(+/-)nu(tau)) = 0.38-0.025 pb is set in the mass range m(H)+ = 180-600 GeV. Here, sigma(pp -> t(b)H-+/-) stands for the cross section sum sigma(pp -> (t) over bar H+) + sigma(pp -> t (b) over bar H-). Assuming B(t -> H(+/-)b) = 1, an upper limit on sigma(pp -> t(b)H-+/-) of 2.0-0.13 pb is set for m(H +/-) = 180-600 GeV. The combination of all considered decay modes and final states is used to set exclusion limits in the m(H +/-)-tan beta parameter space in different MSSM benchmark scenarios.

TL;DR: The first observation of electroweak production of same-sign W boson pairs in proton-proton collisions was reported in this article, where the data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 359 fb^(−1) collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC Events are selected by requiring exactly two leptons (electrons or muons) of the same charge, moderate missing transverse momentum, and two jets with a large rapidity separation and a large dijet mass.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the magnetotransport properties and Hall effect of a series of epitaxial NbN films grown on (100) oriented single crystalline MgO substrate under different conditions using reactive magnetron sputtering.
Abstract: We have measured the magnetotransport properties and Hall effect of a series of epitaxial NbN films grown on (100) oriented single crystalline MgO substrate under different conditions using reactive magnetron sputtering. Hall effect measurements reveal that the carrier density in NbN thin films is sensitive to the growth condition. The carrier density increases by a factor of 3 between the film with highest normal state resistivity $({\ensuremath{\rho}}_{n}\ensuremath{\sim}3.83\text{ }\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{\Omega}\text{ }\text{m})$ and lowest transition temperature $({T}_{c}\ensuremath{\sim}9.99\text{ }\text{K})$ and the film with lowest normal state resistivity $({\ensuremath{\rho}}_{n}\ensuremath{\sim}0.94\text{ }\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{\Omega}\text{ }\text{m})$ and highest transition temperature $({T}_{c}\ensuremath{\sim}16.11\text{ }\text{K})$, while the mobility of carriers does not change significantly. Our results show that ${T}_{c}$ of NbN is governed primarily by the carrier density rather than disorder scattering. By varying the carrier concentration during growth, we can vary the effective disorder $({k}_{F}l)$ from the moderately clean limit to the dirty limit, which makes this system ideal to study the interplay of carrier density and disorder on the superconducting properties of an $s$-wave superconductor.

TL;DR: In this paper, a search for supersymmetry or other new physics resulting in similar final states is presented using a data sample of 4.73 inverse femtobarns of pp collisions collected at sqrt(s)=7 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC.
Abstract: A search for supersymmetry or other new physics resulting in similar final states is presented using a data sample of 4.73 inverse femtobarns of pp collisions collected at sqrt(s)=7 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. Fully hadronic final states are selected based on the variable MT2, an extension of the transverse mass in events with two invisible particles. Two complementary studies are performed. The first targets the region of parameter space with medium to high squark and gluino masses, in which the signal can be separated from the standard model backgrounds by a tight requirement on MT2. The second is optimized to be sensitive to events with a light gluino and heavy squarks. In this case, the MT2 requirement is relaxed, but a higher jet multiplicity and at least one b-tagged jet are required. No significant excess of events over the standard model expectations is observed. Exclusion limits are derived for the parameter space of the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model, as well as on a variety of simplified model spectra.
