TL;DR: The markedly enhanced cell survival in the presence of resveratrol indicates that the small oligomeric structures that are observed during β‐sheet formation are not toxic and could be off‐pathway assembly products.
Abstract: GRAPES FOR AMYLOIDS: The red wine compound resveratrol can effectively inhibit the formation of IAPP amyloid that is found in type II diabetes. Our in vitro inhibition results do not depend on the antioxidant activity of resveratrol. Further, the markedly enhanced cell survival in the presence of resveratrol also indicates that the small oligomeric structures that are observed during beta-sheet formation are not toxic and could be off-pathway assembly products.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide expressions for the nonperturbative matching of the effective field theory describing dark matter interactions with quarks and gluons to the effective theory of nonrelativistic dark matter interacting with nonsmooth nucleons.
Abstract: We provide expressions for the nonperturbative matching of the effective field theory describing dark matter interactions with quarks and gluons to the effective theory of nonrelativistic dark matter interacting with nonrelativistic nucleons. We give expressions of leading and subleading order in chiral counting. In general, a single partonic operator matches onto several nonrelativistic operators already at leading order in chiral counting. Keeping only one operator at the time in the nonrelativistic effective theory thus does not properly describe the scattering in direct detection. The matching of the axial-axial partonic level operator, as well as the matching of the operators coupling DM to the QCD anomaly term, include naively momentum suppressed terms. However, these are still of leading chiral order due to pion poles and can be numerically important.

TL;DR: The significance of ACP(B±→K± K+ K-) exceeds three standard deviations and is the first evidence of an inclusive CP asymmetry in charmless three-body B decays.
Abstract: The charmless decays B±→K±π+π− and B±→K±K+K− are reconstructed using data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb−1, collected by LHCb in 2011. The inclusive charge asymmetries of these modes are measured as ACP(B±→K±π+π−)=0.032±0.008 (stat)±0.004 (syst)±0.007(J/ψK±) and ACP(B±→K±K+K−)=−0.043±0.009 (stat)±0.003 (syst)±0.007(J/ψK±), where the third uncertainty is due to the CP asymmetry of the B±→J/ψK± reference mode. The significance of ACP(B±→K±K+K−) exceeds three standard deviations and is the first evidence of an inclusive CP asymmetry in charmless three-body B decays. In addition to the inclusive CP asymmetries, larger asymmetries are observed in localized regions of phase space.
