TL;DR: If limitations can be overcome in the future, chemists will be able to design multifunctional systems of similar activity and complexity as nature’s enzymes from simple and easily accessible synthetic building blocks.
Abstract: ConspectusPorous nanostructures and materials based on metal-mediated self-assembly have developed into a vibrantly studied subdiscipline of supramolecular chemistry during the past decades. In principle, two branches of such coordination compounds can be distinguished: Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) on the one side represent infinite porous networks of metals or metal clusters that are connected via organic ligands to give solid-state materials. On the other hand, metal–organic cages (MOCs) are discrete and soluble systems with only a limited number of pores. Formation of a particular structure type is achieved by carefully balancing the donor site angles within the ligands as well as the nature and coordination geometry of the metal component. Years of research on MOFs and MOCs has yielded numerous types of well-defined porous crystals and complex supramolecular architectures. Since various synthetic routes and postsynthetic modification methods have been established, the focus of recent developments h...

TL;DR: The present data confirm the close relation of one subcomponent of the late positive complex, the P-CR, to the cognitive response-selection process and show the dependence and independence of P-SR on response selection by manipulating response selection complexity.

TL;DR: The results show that track and artist popularity can play a dominant role and that additional measures are required to better characterize and compare the quality of automatically generated playlists.
Abstract: Most of the time when we listen to music on the radio or on our portable devices, the order in which the tracks are played is governed by so-called playlists. These playlists are basically sequences of tracks that traditionally are designed manually and whose organization is based on some underlying logic or theme. With the digitalization of music and the availability of various types of additional track-related information on the Web, new opportunities have emerged on how to automate the playlist creation process. Correspondingly, a number of proposals for automated playlist generation have been made in the literature during the past decade. These approaches vary both with respect to which kind of data they rely on and which types of algorithms they use. In this article, we review the literature on automated playlist generation and categorize the existing approaches. Furthermore, we discuss the evaluation designs that are used today in research to assess the quality of the generated playlists. Finally, we report the results of a comparative evaluation of typical playlist generation schemes based on historical data. Our results show that track and artist popularity can play a dominant role and that additional measures are required to better characterize and compare the quality of automatically generated playlists.

TL;DR: Etude par microscopie electronique en transmission de couples de diffusion Zr-Co multicouches en transmission ofert laissez-vous en œuvre l’affaires d’un système de diffusion zr-co multicouche.
Abstract: Metallic-glass formation by solid-state reactions has been observed in multilayer Zr-Co diffusion couples and studied by cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy. Planar growth of a Corich amorphous phase proceeds from each interface of the unreacted sample, thus consuming the Co layers at a higher rate. Further annealing results eventually in a reaction of the Co-rich glassy phase with remaining Zr. Because of the high diffusivity of the Co in the amorphous phase, Kirkendall voids are formed during this homogenizing process and are lined up with the periodicity of the original layered structure.

TL;DR: This work reviews the recently described devices incorporating in vitro gene amplification and compares devices relative to each other and in terms of fully achieving a miniaturised total analysis system (micro-TAS).
Abstract: The design and integration of microfluidic devices for on-chip amplification of nucleic acids from various biological samples has undergone extensive development The actual benefit to the biological community is far from clear, with a growing, but limited, number of application successes in terms of a full on-chip integrated analysis Several advances have been made, particularly with the integration of amplification and detection, where amplification is most often the polymerase chain reaction Full integration including sample preparation remains a major obstacle for achieving a quantitative analysis We review the recently described devices incorporating in vitro gene amplification and compare devices relative to each other and in terms of fully achieving a miniaturised total analysis system (μ-TAS)
