TL;DR: The main ideas of agile software development processes were first introduced by the Agile Manifesto and second by presenting specific agile practices that enable agile teams to accomplish their development task on high quality.
Abstract: This chapter introduces the main ideas that form the basis for the agile approach Originally, the agile approach offers a professional approach for software development that encompasseshuman, organizational, and technological aspects of software development processes The main ideas of agile software development processes were first introduced by the Agile Manifesto and second by presenting specific agile practices that enable agile teams to accomplish their development task on high quality In the chapter, we present the Agile Manifesto as was published for software development and shows how it can be implemented for any projects

TL;DR: A new periodontitis classification scheme has been adopted, in which forms of the disease previously recognized as "chronic" or "aggressive" are now grouped under a single category ("periodontitis") and are further characterized based on a multi-dimensional staging and grading system as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A new periodontitis classification scheme has been adopted, in which forms of the disease previously recognized as "chronic" or "aggressive" are now grouped under a single category ("periodontitis") and are further characterized based on a multi-dimensional staging and grading system. Staging is largely dependent upon the severity of disease at presentation as well as on the complexity of disease management, while grading provides supplemental information about biological features of the disease including a history-based analysis of the rate of periodontitis progression; assessment of the risk for further progression; analysis of possible poor outcomes of treatment; and assessment of the risk that the disease or its treatment may negatively affect the general health of the patient. Necrotizing periodontal diseases, whose characteristic clinical phenotype includes typical features (papilla necrosis, bleeding, and pain) and are associated with host immune response impairments, remain a distinct periodontitis category. Endodontic-periodontal lesions, defined by a pathological communication between the pulpal and periodontal tissues at a given tooth, occur in either an acute or a chronic form, and are classified according to signs and symptoms that have direct impact on their prognosis and treatment. Periodontal abscesses are defined as acute lesions characterized by localized accumulation of pus within the gingival wall of the periodontal pocket/sulcus, rapid tissue destruction and are associated with risk for systemic dissemination.

TL;DR: The study reveals that the feasibility properties of the usual solutions of real world LPs can be severely affected by small perturbations of the data and that the RO methodology can be successfully used to overcome this phenomenon.
Abstract: Robust Optimization (RO) is a modeling methodology, combined with computational tools, to process optimization problems in which the data are uncertain and is only known to belong to some uncertainty set. The paper surveys the main results of RO as applied to uncertain linear, conic quadratic and semidefinite programming. For these cases, computationally tractable robust counterparts of uncertain problems are explicitly obtained, or good approximations of these counterparts are proposed, making RO a useful tool for real-world applications. We discuss some of these applications, specifically: antenna design, truss topology design and stability analysis/synthesis in uncertain dynamic systems. We also describe a case study of 90 LPs from the NETLIB collection. The study reveals that the feasibility properties of the usual solutions of real world LPs can be severely affected by small perturbations of the data and that the RO methodology can be successfully used to overcome this phenomenon.

TL;DR: In this paper, the Wenzel and Cassie−Baxter equations are put into proper mathematical-thermodynamic perspective and defined the conditions for determining the transition between the homogeneous and heterogeneous wetting regimes.
Abstract: Equilibrium wetting on rough surfaces is discussed in terms of the “competition” between complete liquid penetration into the roughness grooves and entrapment of air bubbles inside the grooves underneath the liquid. The former is the homogeneous wetting regime, usually described by the Wenzel equation. The latter is the heterogeneous wetting regime that is described by the Cassie−Baxter equation. Understanding this “competition” is essential for the design of ultrahydrophobic surfaces. The present discussion puts the Wenzel and Cassie−Baxter equations into proper mathematical−thermodynamic perspective and defines the conditions for determining the transition between the homogeneous and heterogeneous wetting regimes. In particular, a new condition that is necessary for the existence of the heterogeneous wetting regime is added. It is demonstrated that when this condition is violated, the homogeneous wetting regime is in effect, even though the Cassie−Baxter equation may be satisfied.
