TL;DR: This chapter presents an overview of different analytical modeling techniques from various fields, such as statistical models (naive Bayes classifier, discriminant analysis, logistic regression), machine learning (classification trees, neural networks, ensembles), and multicriteria decision aid (value function models and outranking models).
Abstract: The development of credit risk assessment models in the context of credit scoring and rating, is a data-intensive task that involves a considerable level of sophistication in terms of data preparation, analysis, and modeling. From a data analytics perspective, the construction of credit scoring and rating models can be considered as a classification task, that requires the development of models differentiating the borrowers by their level of credit risk. The model fitting process can be implemented with various methodological approaches, based on different types of models, model fitting criteria, and estimation procedures. This chapter presents an overview of different analytical modeling techniques from various fields, such as statistical models (naive Bayes classifier, discriminant analysis, logistic regression), machine learning (classification trees, neural networks, ensembles), and multicriteria decision aid (value function models and outranking models). Moreover, performance measurement issues are discussed, focusing on the presentation of various popular metrics for evaluating the predictive power and information value of credit scoring and rating models.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the impact of the worst operation cases of low voltage distribution networks comprising micro-grids on the bus voltages and the network losses in a field data-based virtual testbed.
Abstract: Increase in the penetration of Distributed Generation (DG) in distribution networks, raises the risk of voltage limit violations while contributing to line losses. Especially in low voltage (LV) distribution networks (secondary distribution networks), impacts of active power flows on the bus voltages and on the network losses are more dominant. As network operators must meet regulatory limitations, they have to take into account the most critical operating conditions in their systems. In this study, it is aimed to present the impact of the worst operation cases of LV distribution networks comprising microgrids. Simulation studies are performed on a field data-based virtual test-bed. The simulations are repeated for several cases consisting different microgrid points of connection with different network loading and microgrid supply/demand conditions.

TL;DR: A case study of the OLEA system data mining capabilities is presented examining the application of such efforts to the improvement of systematic cultivation, branding, and product exports.
Abstract: This paper proposes a cloud application architecture called OLEA, for monitoring the olive oil production chain. OLEA system deployment follows a divide-and-conquer management logic, which maintains olive tree clusters. On each cluster, NFC technology is used for monitoring plant protection practices and fertilization. Apart from on-site monitoring services, the system is also equipped with virgin oil management services. It uses an OLEA system controller that interconnects with sensors on oil mills, for the procurement of quantitative and qualitative olive oil characteristics, during the industrial extraction process. OLEA system services and management algorithms are controlled by a cloud application server, where collected data uploads and notifications are sent to the end users using a mobile phone application. This paper presents the OLEA system technical characteristics as well as the structure of OLEA communication protocols. Furthermore, a case study of the OLEA system data mining capabilities is presented examining the application of such efforts to the improvement of systematic cultivation, branding, and product exports.

TL;DR: Here, the formal and automated CCC high-level synthesis tools are used in the floating-point paradigm, in order to avoid time-consuming RTL and gate-level simulations.
Abstract: The current difficulty to deliver complex digital integrated circuits (ICs) on time in the market has created the need for formal, fully automated and rapid methods for designing and developing such products. These methods exploit approaches such as compiler technology, High-level Synthesis (HLS) and Electronic System Level (ESL) flows to handle such complexity. Designing custom VLSI hardware units motivate for developing large arithmetic blocks such as floating-point units, using HLS tools. Here, the formal and automated CCC high-level synthesis tools are used in the floating-point paradigm. The CCC tools generate provably-correct floating-point blocks due to the formality of the method, in order to avoid time-consuming RTL and gate-level simulations. The floating-point operations are coded in the ADA programming language and competitive hardware performance is delivered from the rapid CCC compiler experiment, therefore the presented approach is proven useable.
